It is funny that practically all PIF errors are before 1GB
I think that quality of burns on 20A1P crossflashed to 20A4P lack consistency.
Rescan that burn @4X and you would be amazed

It's Sunday. I'm allowed to be slow on Sunday.

In all fairness: rolling was 2 seconds faster than I was. Really. We posted well within the same minute.

I don't recommend anyone uses the patched firmware chok0 released until I check it out. In the past 20A1P had patch protection that would disable certain functions when it was triggered.

Sorry chok0, I have deleted your posts until I can check this out further.

Edit: After a quick look bank 0 still appears to be protected. What affect it has on the drive, I don't know yet but I can't recommend using this patched firmware or patcher.

i've been using mine for a few days and mc 004's usually have one kinda thick spike. i stick to yuden 002 +r's with forced hyper tuning checked and i get great results every time.

I burned this @8x with both Smart Burn and Hyper Tuning On on a legit Liteon 20A4P. I've burned several TY +R's and this drive likes them very much. I just burned my first -R and it loves them even more! I've only burned and scanned one so far, but I like what I see. Check out the nice jitter! No Value line burns yet, just premium. I have a value line package in the closet so I may try that out later. This drive loves TY with Hyper Tuning on for some reason. With HT off, I sometimes get a thick spike. Never with HT On though.

Oh, gosh. That jitter looks...extremely low. I don't see many 6.xx% jitter burns from LiteOn drives. Very nice burn!

no problem that you removed it, i don't want anyones drive to be damaged.
but the renamed version works fine for me, burnt a cd and some mini-dvds without problems.
would be nice if you can release a renamed version if you have some time left.

and thanks for the new 9P54

Well, it can get re-promoted in case the A4P just doesn't cut the mustard for you.

I wish my A1P liked the firmware enough to give me some of the scans that true A4P drives get. :non-existant jealousy emoticon:

I guess it was stupid to some for ordering an A4P but my A1P is doing fine just the way it is. My A1P is one of my best burners right now thanks to CK

All that and it was $26.99 shipped.

Yeah, I'm definitely not one of the people that thinks it's stupid to do that. I'm thinking that my A1P couldn't get better unless it cooked for me, cleaned for me, and made all my media equivalent to TY.

Still wish the drive didn't produce random PIE mountains, though. If the A4P was able to improve on that, I'd be a happy camper. But by CK's post, #137, the A3P does better in controlling burns.

Does any one know what the difference is between the NP firmware and the 9P firmware. Also why 2 different firmwares for same drive. Also i cant upgrade to the 9P firmware it reads "this firmware for DH 20A4p only" which is what i have.

NP and 9P are still 2 different FW series. Any little difference before you get to the x in 9P5x or NP5x and you can't cross flash as is [aka: using the standalone flasher].

Not sure of the difference between FW. I'm sure someone will confirm something about the difference, though.
