Well, mognegna also has a Pioneer DVR-112D and he said that it burns audio cds just fine. I also have a friend that does a lot of Cd and DVD burning, and he swears by his Pioneer unit as being almost perfect in that respect.

BTW what O/S do you have in your machine that gave you so much trouble to get the 115 working? Vista?

So, I ask myself where are the Lite-on engineers that I understand are active members around this forum? I would be nice to hear their opinion on the 20AxL problems from them. If this product is worth keeping this would be a good time to step in and let us know what is being done to fix them. If anything at all is being done, or CAN actually be done at this point in time.

Intel Cored Duo E4500, MB GigaByte Intel G31 chipset, GeForce 8500GT video, Windows XP SP2 fully updated.

Pioneer DVR-112D had a known quality issue: early batches of this model had CD laser head non-working from the beginning or dying within couple of month. I would not take a chance on this.

They know the problem and they are working on it.

It's true, but all drives built from March 2007 are ok.

Lets hope so. The other day I tried once again to burn some nice music I really wanted to be able to listen to in the car, so I gave it another try but no luck. None of them played. Must have been sheer luck that just one of the earlier burned CDs actually seems to play, although I'm pretty sure I can sometimes hear some song skipping going on. The tower of coasters is growing in height.

At least all of my earlier CDs that I burned with my old generic 16x CD burner still play perfectly, so I've got plenty of music to listen to in the car.

In case its of any help to Edwin12355, I really would not mind at all if in order to properly burn Audio-CDs I have to sacrifice some of the DVD burning speed. I rarely use anything above 4-6x anyway, so to me that 20x DVD burning speed figure of this DH20A4P unit really doesn't mean much to me.

Just for the heck of it, since I had already the file on hand, I went back to 9P57 from 9PV1 (my original FW was 9P53), and burned one audio-CD, and it plays no problems in the car. Burned a second one, and again no luck.

Who understands this???

Hi Edwin, my model is a DH20A4P. It originally came with FW 9P53, then I upgraded to 9PV1. The other day I tried with 9P57 which is the one it has now.

Hope you can help me in resolving the Audio-CD issues with my burner. I really would not mind to loose some of the DVD burning speed if that by any chance helps to resolve the problem. Thank you.

I have a Liteon LH-20A1H with LLOC firmware. I burned some Verbatim/Mitsubishi Super AZO CD-R's at 16x and was very surprised to find them unusable.

In a couple of days I might try LLOD and 48x, but I don't really expect that to help at this point...?

(Happily the LTR-52246S is still great.)

Today I had to go to the store where I purchased the Lite-On DH20A4P, so I took it back and after explaining the problems with the audio-cd's they exchanged it and gave me a Sony AD-7190A 20x DVD/CD-RW. Now after burning three audio cd's at 8x (two HP, and one Princo), so far they all play fine in my car.

I've seen references in other treads that state that this Sony AD-7190A is a rebranded Lite-On DH20A3 unit, but at least this one actually seems to work perfectly with audio cd's.

So far so good... will burn some more music tomorrow and see how they turn out.

if you remember, as I said a lot of times CDs burning quality of A3 series is much better than A1/A4 series.
