This should only work for LiteOns, true BenQs scan jitter in the same pass as PIE PIF so whatever speed you scan you scan the jitter at. Not sure about any other drives that scan jitter.

You don't have to run it everytime. The tool will store the setting in registry and CDSpeed will use that setting.

Just applied it to CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.15 and rescanned a burn I'd scanned earlier today. At 4x, jitter numbers looked considerably better.

This tool does not affect jitter scanning speed for Nexperia based BenQ drives such as the BenQ DW1655/1650/1640/1620. These drives will scan PIE/PIF/POF/Jitter simultaneously and at the same scanning speed.

You just have to run the tool and make your setting once and the setting will be remembered. It's a set-and-forget tool.

It doesn't work for me. I have 4 versions of CDSpeed and DiscSpeed available and none of them are affected. Where is it in the registry? I searched and found this. Is it one of these?

JohnnyBob1, what versions of CDSpeed and DiscSpeed are you using?

BTW, the registry key is "Speed Jitter"

I searched my registry for "Speed Jitter" and found several instances, all of them set to a data value of 4.

I have CDSpeed 4.7.7.15, 4.7.7.16, SE3-4.7.7.16 (your patched version), and DiscSpeed 4.11.2.0 .exe files available in a special folder with shortcuts so I can select any of them. I've been using SE3.4.7.7.16 because it's the only one which shows jitter for DL discs. However the jitter scan runs much too fast and is obviously not normal.

I also have CDSpeed.exe 4.5.1.1 in my Program Files/Ahead/Nero Toolkit folder from an installation of Nero sometime in the past, but never use it anymore.

I noticed that the TA Jitter tab on my SE3-4.7.7.16 has disappeared for unknown reasons. It was there before, then vanished. So something about it is unstable.

My registry indicates that I have both Nero 8 and 9 installed, or partially so. I really don't know what Nero version(s) I have because I don't use Nero anymore. I recall that I installed/uninstalled a couple of Nero versions in the past on this drive and XP Home SP3 op system but don't remember the details. I probably didn't get clean installations/uninstallations.

The registry shows that I still have a Lite-On DH-20A4P, but I don't anymore. That was one of my prior drives. I now have a Lite-On iHAP322 9, which also appears in the registry.

Kind of a complex puzzle, maybe no solution unless I do a clean reinstall of my op system. But it's still working generally OK otherwise, so I don't plan it in the near future.

The jitter scan with an iHAS drive is quite quick. Download the trial version of Opti Drive Control v1.30 and in the "Options/Disc Quality" set "Jitter Speed (LiteOn Only)" to 4x and enabled it.

If it scans at the same speed then you will know there is nothing wrong with CDSpeed SE3 4.7.7.16.

FYI, your TA Jitter tab was only displayed because you had a 20A4 drive installed. It doesn't work with an iHAS drive.

Thanks for the suggestion which seems logical. Unfortunately OptiDriveControl froze at the end and wouldn't run the jitter scan. It froze at 99.9% complete for quite awhile (maybe 1-2 minutes) then finally advanced to 100.0% and said Test Completed. Otherwise the PIE/PIF scan is very similar to CDSpeed SE3 4.7.7.16. Note that I have the IDE drive iHAP322 9, not the SATA drive iHAS322.

I tried rerunning the OptiDriveControl scan above with jitter set to 8x and it had no effect. No jitter scan. Then I tried it with a single layer disk (see below), same thing, no jitter scan. It froze at 99.9% complete for 40 seconds at the end before proceeding to 100.0% complete. It would seem that OptiDriveControl does not support my drive. Their FAQs list of supported drives includes the iHAPxxx, but that is NOT my drive model! My model has a trailing 9, which requires different firmware than the iHAP322 8. Someone suggested that the reason is the _9 drive has a hardware change from the _8 model, but I don't know. I just know it requires different firmware..

Well it works very well, I just used my iHAS424 to scan a Verbatim MKM003 burned in an Optiarc AD-7240s 1.02 bitS(MCSE patched) of aBD Rebuilder encode from BD to DVD9:

screenshot:
NERO5 W JITTER SET VERBATIM DL MKM003 8X IN OPTIARC 7240 OCEANS TWELVE BD REBUILDER BD TO DVD9.png

Here is same disk scaned w/ optidrive 141 when iHAS had ZL1F:

PIF andPIE are a little different...
