LiteOn / PLDS / Sony Writer Discuss, help liteon 24102b at CD, DVD and Blu-ray Writers forum; please could someone give advise just bought a liteon 24102b with firmware 5s57 it o.k to burn most things but when you select fast skip eorror the writer just sites there doing nothing just wining/stopping and starting my friend has one and it can read new sd2 in 7-10mins any

please could someone give advise just bought a liteon 24102b with firmware 5s57 it o.k to burn most things but when you select fast skip eorror the writer just sites there doing nothing just wining/stopping and starting my friend has one and it can read new sd2 in 7-10mins any ideas(he is running firmware 5s07)would it be o.k to flash to that version or not as it is older?

1: drives shipped with 5s54 or 5s57 firmware can't be flashed back(or maybe they can but they won't work), becuse of a newer hardware design.

2: It's normal that it will take up to 7minutes to get past 0%, open the log and you'll see that it skips a lot of bad sectors.

No, because Lite-On firmwares don't allow backflashing.

Sure that the game is safedisc protected?

What game is it? Have you set it to hardware error correction and 0 retries?

Open the log and you'll see that it skips errors, with safedisc 1 and 2 there should be errors from a bit over 800 to a bit over 10 000.

There is no 5s54 DOS version, only 5S07 DOS version and that one will not work with your drive.
