Hello!
Recently bought a ASUS DRW-24B3LT. Learned from the forum that this drive can crossflash in Lite-On iHAS X24B and Plextor PX-l890SA.
The first thing I did backup firmware and EEPROM!
First I flash in iHAS 624B, using the Flash Utility 6.0.1 stok GL27 firmware from file ATAPI.iHAS624_B.GL27.stock.rar, on drive blinking light, then using the EEPROM Utility 6.2.0 crossflash convert drive. Turn off my PC and after the start I had iHAS 624 B successful!
Then I'm back in crossflash DRW-24BLT with backup firmware and convert drive. Power off / Start PC DRW-24BLT successful!
I decided to flash the firmware in Plextor stok taken from the file PLEXTOR.PX-L890SA.1.05.stock.rar
And after a firmware flash, on drive blinking light NOT!!!, Decided to convert drive there was a message "sorry but this drive cannot be converted at this time". Power off / Start PC PX-l890SA successful!
But now when trying to flash firmware error message "error writing flash to drive".
The only thing that managed to flash the original utility px-l890sa_1.06.exe
And I return the backup EEPROM, I do not know why I did it, I thought that after this be possible to flash
Now my drive with EEPROM ASUS firmware from Plextor
How do I return ASUS firmware back??
Thanks!
P.S. Sorry for my english -

Use the "24x B series recovery flasher" in the first post of this thread:
http://club.myce.com/f44/new-liteon-...ad-new-267641/
Then flash to your ASUS firmware from there.__________________

Sorry guys, I couldn't find any information, but what exactly is the difference between the ihbs 112 and the ihbs 212? Someone said you can crossflash the 112 to the plextor 950sa, but is this also possible with the 212, or is that a completely different drive?
A search turned up nothing...
Um....nvm...the 212 is the "retail" version of the 112, then?

C0deKing,
On the off chance you're interested in looking more closely at the 'Error writing FLASH to drive!' issue on some AHCI based systems (mine included), I'd like to PM you a couple of I/O logs that capture what the real Lite-On flasher and your own one does. (Let me know and I'll send them over)
Assuming you don't have a system where it fails like this, maybe the logs will help you diagnose and perhaps tweak/fix/workaround the issue

I'm pretty sure your drive is not a LiteOn & cannot be crossflashed. It is a Pioneer & QSI design only, going off knowledge around the forum.Quote:Hi C0deKing ! My Mode Bios is "IDE" no AHCIYes, Albert's correct. I did open up v6.2.0 to support more drives and it must have inadvertently activated the buttons for your model of drive. I doubt your drive even supports the ability to read the eeprom, which is why you get the error.Quote:I'm pretty sure your drive is not a LiteOn & cannot be crossflashed. Hey Guys,
I have a problem with my ihas524-t26 B drive, bought in China. It was one of the few B models on taobao I could find. I want to use it for cross flashing with modded firmwares. But only the stock Lite-on firmware upgrade tool works. The flash_utility 6.0.1 can not read its flash information and just has a status code of 8001. I don't know what that means.
I tried it with both a usb-sata adapter and native sata of my computer and the issue is persistent. I also tried using a laptop too. Has anyone else encountered this issue? should I try another computer with a different sata chipset? -

No it will not work. Lightscribe requires some extra hardware which this drive doesn't have. You could crossflash it to an iHAS 524 A (if your current firmware version is 1.03 or lower) or to an iHAS524 B if your drive came loaded with firmware 1.04, and this way you will gain LabelTag/LabelFlash and SmartErase, but that's about it in terms of extra features to be gained out of a crossflash. Actually there is one more advantage ... the LiteOn firmware is going to be newer and they release firmware updates more often than ASUS, which typically means better media support and/or better tuned write strategies ...Quote:Hello
If I will flash my Asus DRW-24B1ST to Plextor PX-l890SA, will the Lightscribe function work?
Are there any other advantages of such operation?
Just make sure you backup both your EEPROM and your Firmware before attempting to crossflash! -
