Re: Flash Utility for LiteOn Based Optical Drives (v2.1.0) *NEW*

Hi xmarine0629 and welcome to cdfreaks.

Thanks to seeker010 sending me a 20A3P , there will be a new version out soon that will support writing to the flash used in this drive and will know the flash for reading without having to learn the size. In fact 17 new flashes will be supported in the next version.

Have you tried as root? Wine doesn't work well with IDE drives in my experience, but I can get my SATA and USB burners recognized.

My LiteOn DH-20A3P is detected by this version. Perhaps you have another problem with your system.

Hi, well first of all thanks C0deking for your stuff

Just I have a question when updating my 832S drive. When I use CG5M firware and update it with the flash utility, should I check "Update Boot Code" or should I leave it blank? I am not sure

thanks

Re: Flash Utility for LiteOn Based Optical Drives (v2.2.1) *20A3 support*

Hi NewFish. Is the read and write button enabled when you select the 20A4P drive? If the read button is enabled, then just use this function to save the firmware. Please let me know how you get on.

Hi, C0deKing
The drive is not mine. I asked the guy on a Russian forum who has it to dump the fw and that's what he said: it read 128K and after that "Error reading flash".

Hmm, I don't like the sound of that. It's too early to say if it's changes to the firmware or his system. I don't know what else would work. Perhaps XSF at DOS or the v2 version of LtnFlash that's around. I doubt they would know the Flash ID but they may still read.

Thanks for your ongoing upgrades to these tools, especially since it's already 11 Nov. where you live (it's 1:30 pm here).

One thing I noticed though- the change log in the first post for this tool and the EEPROM tool have a different chronology- one has newest changes first, the other last.

Hi Codeking. I got a LiteOn 18A1H and i'd like to Crossflash to 20A4P. Is there any way to do it? Your "20A4P.9P53.stock.exe" does not let me Crossflash. It says "No matching drives detected"

@ JoeCool

do a crossflash to 20A1P and then try to flash the 20A4P Firmware.

Ahhh, I see that Eeprom-Utility finally supports crossflashing 18A1H to 20A1H...great. Seems i missed the development

As of now, is it possible to crossflash NEC 719x SATA models to Liteon? Do you know, if NEC 72xx models are Liteon 20A4s compatible?

I can't say for sure about the NEC 719x SATA model but it should be able to be flashed to the LiteOn firmware.

Do you have an NEC 72xx?

The NEC 5200, 7200 and 7203 are original NEC designs, no clones.

Re: Flash Utility for LiteOn Based Optical Drives (v2.2.2) *20A4 support*

I am before purchase and where I live I cannot buy Liteon drives, only Plextors for scanning (which is out of my reach). The only solution would be 7191S > 20A3S or 7201 > 20A4S. Do you know anything about 7201 crossflash?

Flash Utility Version 2.2.3 Released

Improved support for new models.

If you are using a 20A3 series drive or later, I'd recommend that you upgrade to this version.
