Now i'm plug drive to PC with SATA port in IDE mode. Crossflashing process is works, but drive now only works in PC with SATA interface, but in my notebook and usb converter is not works. When i'm run imageburn and run write process, write process any time in state "Lead In". This is in test mode too. I'm backup only the flash, not eeprom. I'm use the latest eeprom utility 6.2.0 and flash utility 6.0.1
Crossflash back to ASUS not solved this problem.

If the convert drive worked and the drive light is not flashing, then I don't think it's a problem with the drive anymore, especially if you flashed back to ASUS firmware and ran convert drive again. __________________

Drive light is not flashing, but interesting, why now drive is not working with SATA-USB converter? -

That is your problem. Not every bridge chip can work harmoniously with the optical drive. You should connect it internally to a PC and try again.Quote:Originally Posted by anrayDrive light is not flashing, but interesting, why now drive is not working with SATA-USB converter?__________________

Hello C0deKing!
Long time no talk
I have tried dumping the EEPROM from the HP 1260(t) using the EEPROM Utility, however it only saves an 8k file, not the expected 2mb file. It worked fine when I dumped the firmware from the 1270(t).
I grabbed a 1260 temporarily while I send my 1270 in for servicing - I figured they would have the same media codes, just lacking the LS ability.
However, it blew out the 1st DL disc that i tried (MBIPG101-R10-65 - same code, diff mfr - Memorex vs my old Kodaks) - have has SIGNIFICANT problems with this media code with all LiteOn-based drives (LiteOn, Asus) with the exception of the 1270, which burned them flawlessly. Yesterday, the drive just stopped registering discs - ANY disc. Will be sending in on a RMA tomorrow, but needed a quick replacement.
Any ideas why I can't dump the BIN from the 1260? I'm running the utility and selecting BACKUP EEPROM.
Thanks for any help!

You used the wrong tool, which just saved the 8KB EEPROM. That is why it is named EEPROM tool

Ok, so my memory is faulty (they say it's first to go anyway). I got it dumped this time
Oddly, it *does* show the one media code that I've been having SO much trouble with -
MBIPG101 R10-065 8x,6x,4x
Blew out the 1st disc at 8x, but burned the 2nd one ok at 4x. -

You did completely power off and back on the drive? Don't know what you mean by flashing with MCSE? __________________

yes i've did it, & what i mean by flashing with MCSE that it's a program to adjust speed of burning form certain types of media (DVD Discs) so i've adjusted the firmware and flashed it on the drive and that's what happened as i mentioned i am so helpless now and here is the link of the program.

I'm aquainted with MCSE. You can't flash with MCSE. I believe you may be typing faster than you're thinking
. Slow down. Exactly which drive are you flashing? Is it an A or B model? Let me get this straight. You took a modified firmware and modified it again with MCSE? Apparently that isn't a good idea. IF, and only IF your drive is a B series lite-on, you may be able to recover it with the recovery flasher here. __________________

You may be able to recover it with the B series recovery flasher I linked to. Please follow COdeKing's warnings here. This should bring the drive back to a working state as a 124 B. You will then need to use flash utility with a 324B firmware from here followed by using the EEprom utility's convert drive function to get you back to where you started. Power cycle the drive between steps. __________________

Were you able to get a working and functional drive with the recovery flasher?Quote:i did your instructions to the letter but when i try to convert the drive it says invalid checksum and when i try to repair it it says contact codeguys i know i've been asking too much and i really appreciate your help very much.__________________

When you power cycle the drive, are you shutting off the computer?
Perhaps someone who knows a bit more about the recovery flasher can help us out here.__________________

The only other things I can suggest is to try again:Quote:i've tried shutting down, removing the cable and plug it everything but no use i think i'll lose hope soon.
- on a different computer, or
- under a different OS and/or using a different SATA port/controller/settings (IDE mode vs AHCI, but avoid RAID, and use a controller which supports ODDs) and/or using different drivers (MS vs Intel/other manufacturer), or
- via an external SATA to USB adapter which supports ODDs.
The latter worked for me when Convert Drive refused to work for me after a crossflash on a DELL workstation. -

In a moment of sleep-deprived logic, I decided to copy over the EEPROM from my working cross-flashed 624B to a new one instead of using 'Convert Drive'.
Now, I remember c0deking stating that the most of the factory calibration data cannot be overwritten by "Restore EEPROM", so the drive isn't completely bricked.
However, there exists a major checksumming error such that EEPROM tool's Repair Checksum cannot correct it.
Is it possible to manually fix the EEPROM's checksum so that the light stops blinking and the drive can do something besides open and close the tray?
Or is it more lucking out on the right EEPROM backup which will work?
The good drive has a serial number of: ....2736.
The one with the bad EEPROM has a serial number of ...2825.
Both have a Mfg Date of August 2011.
Does anybody have a EEPROM backup of an iHAS 224 B (or crossflashed properly to 624 B) of a drive with serial number close to 227134502825?
