Good review, although it is either a typo or it can now be done "Supports bitsetting (Book Type DVD-ROM) for DVD-R/RW/DL media" Do you mean DVD+R/RW/DL?

Hi brought this lite-on LH-20A1H, but im having problems burning on to dvd discs.. I can burn fine on to normal cds but every time i try to do dvd data disc it doesnt seem to want to start (i just get error message)

Ive tried burning the same stuff on my laptop with the same dvds and it works fine..

Can any one help??

I have a similar problem to the one that loz_1978 has... When I'm trying to burn DVD-R (Verbatim x16) in 1 case of 3 I have failures... It can be during the burning itself or read errors after the burning... DVD+RW can't be formatted at all... That's my first and I think last Lite-On cause Pio 111L writes always, everything and just great...
PS The firmware doesn't change anything... I tried LL06 FB EOS, LL0A FB EOS and LL07...
PPS What's more, it wasn't easy for me to get Lite-On in the place where I live... I paid more, had to wait and as a result I have great dissatisfaction with this manufacturer...

On the DL writing page, why do the graphs clearly peak at 12X, and the pictures even say "5X-12X CAV", but then the description says they were written at 8X?

The discs were written at 8x (graphs not shown). The 5-12x graphs you see are the Read Transfer Tests that verify readability of the discs after they have been written.

I've had the Lite-On LH-20A1H SATA drive for a few months now. Have burned quite a few CD-R and DVD-R disks with no problems.

I have the latest Lite-On firmware LL06

Today is the first issue I've run into using the unit. I went to watch some videos and found that it won't read a retail pressed DVD of 28 Weeks Later I removed the disk and looked at it, no scratches, no dirt (it's brand new) so I tried it in a couple other drives on other computers I have and it reads and plays just fine on them. I then took a couple other movie DVDs and tested it again and they played just fine.

Not really sure what if anything is different about this disk compared to other movie disks but the drive does not auto-play it or recognize there is a disk installed for the 28 Weeks Later movie.

Does great LightScribe labeling and overall a great little burner. So far just this one disk it can't read for some reason.
