Can't read a DVD+RW disc - recovery?

I recently had to make a backup using a borrowed drive, and now that I have the disc at home I find that I can't read the disc! I don't have access to the original data anymore, so this disc is my only copy

The strange thing is, I burned three discs, and the two made using BackUp My PC work fine. The one burned using Easy CD Creator 6 does not. They are all using DVD+RW media from the same package.

When I put the bad disc in my DVD drive (Sony DRU-500A) Windows (XP) says:
Disk is not formatted
Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it
could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows.

Not what I wanted to hear.

I am hoping there is some way I can still access the data on the disc, and that this is just some sort of incompatibility I can correct or work around some how.

Here is some info from NeroInfo, let me know if you need something specific:

I also found a command line tool, dvd+rw-mediainfo.exe, that showed some details:

Both utilities report there is a single session on the disc, which is promising, but neither has given any clues as to what Windows might be objecting to.

Again, any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Re: Can't read a DVD+RW disc - recovery?

Have you tried isobuster?
RW disc's are less reliable than R disc's and you just might have a faulty one.
You could also try a friends machine and if it reads it ok make a copy to another DVD.

Re: Can't read a DVD+RW disc - recovery?

I didn't know about isobuster, thanks for the tip! It could read about 1/3 of the disc and then seemed to hang. Sounds like a different DVD drive might have better luck, I'll start trying friends' machines.

Thanks for the quick reply!
