| Works quite well at 12X but I haven't gotten anything at 16X meets the 280/4 PI/PIF benchmark. http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=19 |

| Swapping strategies only made things worse. The burn I posted is typical of what I get using the stock strategy and just enabling the higher speed with Omnipatcher. I also just obtained my first batch of MCC004 and I will post a few scans from that after I flush the eeprom and let the drive learn this new media. |

| just bought a little spindle of the verbatim 8x compatible with 12x hardware disks...to my dissappointment dvdinfo pro only recognized them to a strategy of 8x on both nec3500 and liteon 1633x.....they were indeed mcc 003 decided to check them out cause the mcc004 are more expensive right now and these might be an alternative to the mcc004 ![]() Complete Media Code 00000000 01 02 00 00 A1 0F 02 00 00 03 00 00 00 26 05 3F .............&.? 00000010 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 4D 43 43 00 00 00 00 00 30 .......MCC.....0 00000020 30 33 00 38 23 54 37 12 02 42 6E 02 A8 6B 15 15 03.8#T7..Bn..k.. 00000030 0B 0B 08 08 01 19 1B 0C 0C 0C 0D 01 00 00 00 00 ................ | Is MCC004 that expensive? I got my spindle of MCC004 for about $22 (for a pack of 25). Less than $1 USD per disc.

| here in italy DVD's are so expensive, the spindle of 25 disc 4x Verbatim is 50 Euro (also others: philips, etc), i buy from Nierle.de, the Verbatim 8x spindle of 25 is 19.99 euro (+ 10 shipping), and on nierle there is no 16X media (even those spindles are hard to find, most of the time they are not available). |

| NEC 3500 is not able to overspeed MCC 003 at the present moment. However, the BenQ 1620 does it @ 12x quite well. I'm not sure about the LiteOn though. Quote:

| buy.com is where I got my MCC004 for less than $1/disc. Circuit City is not known for its good prices.

| i found these while i was browsing a hot deals site. $30/100 seems pretty good these have been reported to be both prodisc r03 and mcc03 http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.ph...+or+List+Media |

| @ cbourl, you better download KProbe 2.4.2 or Nero CD/DVD Speed and rerun the test. Yeah, right now we don´t know for sure if the media he is using is MCC-003 or -004. ![]() Anyhow, you must be lucky when overspeeding MCC +R´s in general. My experience is; disc not playable, if burned above "rated" speed... |

| @cbourl after d/l Kprobe 2.4.2, scan at 4x and save results as .png file using the diskette icon in the upper right corner. You can post by using the 'manage attachments' button in the 'go advanced' reply window. You can also read Interpreting PI/PO error scans which will help you..um...interpret PI/PO(now PI/PIF) error scans. Reading other peoples posts and comments, especially Please read: Posting guidelines for this forum linked from the top of the forum homepage, will also yield a wealth of information. Now, scan and post! |

| That is a terrible scan! Yet you say it works good in your settop DVD player? Very hard to believe, have you tried watching the end of the movie? |
- #22
| @cbourl yeah that scan is pretty ugly . The parameters of a good burn are 280 maximum(peak) PI's and 4 maximum(peak) PIF's so you can see HenryNettles and my shock at such huge errors...did you try to play this all the way through? Don't feel bad though, nobody knows about media ID's and such until they have problems and research it and end up here and find the bitter truth...GIGO...GarbageInGarbgeOut...so you may need to find better media to burn to. Try to search around for people in the forum and the media forum who have had good results from specific media that is available to you in your area(AUS?). I did a quick search for you and found this thread good luck and let us know how it turns out |
