Guys at Lite-On might know. Why don't you send them a email?

    Linky.

LiteOn support sucks. They just blame the drives poor performance on "CHEAP" media and system configuration. I've been through several systems and at least 10 burners and have never had a problem with system cinfiguration. It's just a crap drive and they aren't releasing any updates because they can't fix it. Their last response was that I needed to make sure the region was set for the drive....like that really makes any difference. Their solution is to blame it on your system setup!!! I doubt I will ever buy another LiteOn.

You are right about the LiteOn support but I don't agree about the quality of their drives. LiteOn 20Axx series is a very good choice for burning quality, also with cheap media (but I never use them).
Fortunately we have here on CdFreaks a member that works in LiteOn (two with Karr but is a lot of time that we don't see him ).

@TheOne_66, is one of your objectives is to bash LiteOn whenever and wherever you can? You only seem to want to burn one certain type of printable media, and if that fails, then the drive ultimately sucks. You're asking customer support, what else do you expect from non-technical people? They're following the same scripts that Dell 1st tier support goes through. Most (if not all) of them probably don't burn DVDs like the people here. Of course they're going to ask to make sure your system is set up correctly, do you think they can read your mind and know what sort of set up you have? Get real.

Not everything is perfect and perhaps you got a bummed drive. If you detest LO that much, sell the drive and move on.

I've tried 3 different types of printable discs. The discs I prefer are the Taiyo Yuden Watershields which are a good quality disc. The second I tried were Philips, yes they're cheap but they work perfect in 2 other burners I have, NEC 4551a, Sony DRU-500a. The Sony is a very old drive yet these discs still burn OK. The third discs were Verbatim which aren't cheap either. I can't just keep buying discs until I find some that this drive likes. There are actually corrupt files on the burned discs and the DVDs freeze when playing back in any DVD player, I've tried several players. I'm just frustrated because I want this drive to work and keep checking for non existent firmware updates. I'll quit trashing LiteOn. I've actually had LiteOn drives in the past that were quite good and have recommended LiteOn drives to many of my friends. I've always had a good experience with them and the drives have had more firmware updates than others I've owned. I just don't know why there are no updates for this drive when there are obviously a lot of people having issues with it.

Maybe it's your first SATA burner and it needs special attention.

There's new, non-LiteOn firmware (BL04) available. My drive came with BL02.

    http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/d...hed-fb-eos.rar

Since it's not from LiteOn it will void your warranty as far as I can tell.

I haven't done any testing yet aside from burning a Lightscribe cover (which even with the best quality settings has faint tracking lines in the output). I'm going to post a separate thread for that...

jleinenbach, 12x is too high for the TA-Jitter test. Do it at max 2x.

    It's ok.
The standard for PIE/PIF test is 4x or 8x.

This is another test of DVD+R DL 2,4x RICOHJPN D00
I even had to stop the jitter test since it appeared to be endless.
