812 keeps stalling at 1% and freezes

Thanx for the help ahead of time.

I have had trouble writting on ritek 4x-R. using Nero 6.0 to burn. It starts like its going to burn and then it just stalls at 1% and freezes. I am already at 6 coasters. I already updated the firmware to the latest and it still stalls.

The last time my drive did that to me, a reboot fixed the problem. But I'm going to assume that by updating to the latest US0N, you've already rebooted...

Does it do this to you for any other media type?

It did this before and a reboot did not fix it. So I opened up the cases checked cables and checked everything. I rebooted and tried again and the it froze. It says error but the it will not open when I push the eject button. So I reboot get the messed up dvd out and it looks like it burned just a little bit.

Any ideas??? total of 9 coasters now. Thinking of using them for frisbees

Have you tried other media types?

Have you tried updating Nero? (or tried other burning apps?)

The one time I experienced this I switched off 'Auto insert notification' and it has never happened again.

I don't know if this will help you, but it's the best I can suggest at the moment.

Also, try disabling antivirus etc
