20A1P reading/writing problem with T02

Yesterday I started having a problem with reading "some" of my burnt Sony T02 media with my LiteOn 20A1P KL0M , it tries to read the discs but fails and shows the drive as "empty" but some discs show the error in that picture attached
I put a blank T02 disc and it recognized it but when trying to burn with it it shows an error (No Additional Sense) with cd/dvd speed and the disc still empty and usable .
I downgraded to KL05 f/w and restored KL05 EEPROM and "most" discs read back fine but some give the same error that the disc is not formatted

Anyway I can use KL0M and the drive still work fine ?

Well , with KL05 and My Computer opened , this error shows up but when I close My Computer every single T02 disc load just fine and this is limited to T02 , I've tried TYG03 and whether My Computer is opened or not they load normally

I also tried the LiteOn 20A1P------->Benq DW-2000 crossflash and the problem still there

Now here is a new problem :

Even with KL05 f/w , OPTODISCR16 discs gives the same error message , and SmartBurn utility shows the DVD+R disc as DVD+RW
Is my drive dead ?
What can I do (step by step) to fix it , if there is a fix ?

EDIT : "some" T02 also have the same problem of showing as DVD+RW discs
I feel all alone here

Panasonic TYG03 started giving Power Calibration error with Imageburn , my LiteOn is screwed , how to fix this ? I am no expert with LiteOn drives but I tried all the tricks : Clearing OPC , resetting HT and Learned Media and upgrading/downgrading firmware and even crossflashing to Benq DW-2000

If you hadn't crossflashed I'd have said RMA it.

Sorry to hear about your problems, minaelromany!

The only thing I can think of is flashing a firmware and a corresponding EEPROM backup you saved previously. If that doesn't work (or you already tried it) then I can only think of checking that the cables (IDE and power) are still properly attached.

Drage has some good suggestions - plus, I don't know if you already tried, but have you tried the drive on a different PC with the same discs to see if the problem's still there? Long shot but might just get you somewhere

my first pioneer 103 bricked it after a week i could have cried considering it was a 450 quid drive back then thank god for warrantys , maybe flash it back to the oldest firmware u got and try that ?? u got another machine to try it in ?

DM , I tried different firmwares with their EEPROMs and the problems is still there , the strange thing is that every firmware reads different discs from the same MID (T02) and I am sure the drive isn't dead (yet )because of high quality burns and scans.
Here is a scan of TYG03 just burnt with it after recrossflash to Benq DW-2000
I don't know how a drive can read DVD+R TY T02 media as DVD+RW

I will try it with another PC and report back

minaelromany, this may be an issue writing the bitsetting/header with your drive. Try burning DVD+R with bitsetting on and off to see if the result is any different.

Edit: Looks like even blank DVD+R discs are shown as DVD+RW. More likely a problem with the drive reporting the disc header. The header holds the bits that determine the media type DVD-ROM, DVD+R, DVD+RW etc.

C0deKing you are absolutely right about this , the problem seems to be related to drive not recognizing disc header , but not all discs , some of them (T02) reads fine , and with KL05 "most" of them read fine and writing is another problem
Is there anyway to fix this ?

I don't think a dead burner could produce such awesome scans :

Maybe the problem is in EEPROM and even the one I saved the first time I flashed a firmware (stock KL05 EEPROM)

I just bought Benq 1680 (no 1800 or 2000 here yet) and wish to crossflash it to Benq 2000 then to 20A1P and extract the firmware and EEPROM to fix my original 20A1P (hopefully!) I think I need help from the stripe guy (Zebra) with this

Ah well, even if the drive is somewhat buggered, at least you can still do scanning with it

It won't scan if it can't read the discs
The thing that made me pull my hair is that it reads some discs and scan them normally and some other discs with the same MID can't be read

Yes , but I can't RMA it because I crossflashed it and it is not ethical to do it.
BTW : before I became a member here I was RMA'ing anything even things I wrongfully damage , but now I take the responsibility

Is there a possibility you got hold of a really bad batch of T02's that are causing the problem?

Can you get some from a friend or neighbor to check rather than buying more?

Not only T02 media , I've tried DAXON AZ3 (burnt ok but didn't read with any burner) , also it couldn't read some OPTODISC discs

Who the hell would steal such thing ? I will not shut up and will surely sue that company
