Plextor Writer Discuss, Suggestions and feedback for Plextor at CD and DVD Writers forum; This Fuji branded media burns badly with PX-716A firmware 1.09. I have also provided a scan of the previous disc from my DVR-109 1.37 which burned with nearly identical results to my 4167B DL12 (both at 12x). This second scan appears to be the optimal burn capabilities of the media.

@plextor:

When will be out a new firmware version (1.10) for our PX716XX?

Please support again a lot before the "born" of PX760XX on the market.

Thanks.

Beta/Jitter scanning on a DL +R DVD with PlexTools Pro 2.32a and a PX-755a (FW 1.02) is broken and gives an error 02038D at (or around) the layer break.

Allow FE-TE tests on a disc at all supported speeds for that media, the way BenQ does with Q-Suite. Also, it'd be nice if you could select more speeds for Sum1/Sum8 testing, like 4x or 6x CLV read speed.

The eject button method enables SpeedRead (disk spins up) but the setting seems to get canceled after a second or so and the speed reverts to 2x again. something is very wrong here.

On the PX-755 with FW 1.02 the writing strategy for Verbatim/Mitsubishi +R DL (MKM 003 00) needs fine tuning. See results in this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=167499

It would be great if 755/760 supported overburning DVD+R just as the previous models did.

I'd second this. I'm not sure whether it's not supported or simply broken. Both PlexTools Pro XL and Nero let you choose to overburn as they did with the 712 and the 716 but when the writing process reaches the overburn area a write error happens.

So lets hope that it is just broken and will be fixed!

Doing a SL Beta/Jitter scan with the 755 FW 1.02 and PTPro 2.32a and then switching to PI/PO (Burst) test and starting it can make the 755/Plextools combination hang.

PLEASE release a newer version PTP that fixes this and the numerous other bugs that where introduced between 2.28 and 2.32a!

Hi,

I've just got this through emails from Plex support (talking of the 755 and 760 models):

"We always commit to supporting our loyal customers so the coming firmware upgrade will have DVD+R overburning enabled."

Regards,

ET

Nice to hear.

But despite all their commitment and the meanwhile availability of hacked firmware i guess they still adhere to 'protected commands'?

When one fights a losing battle it is no sign of weakness to admit it and withdraw to keep losses minimal. It's what is commonly called as being 'smart'. Please, Plextor, reconsider! Thanks for listening!

PX-755, FW 1.02

When looking at the CD-scan results in this thread ( http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=167499) you'll notice that Taiyo Yuden and TDK discs are not read back at 20-48x but at something like 18-42x. This in contrast to other CD-R discs (Sony, MPO). I don't know if this is intentional (limiting read spead according to disc quality) or just a bug. Please check.

PlexTools XL

PTXL offers automated test-sequences (All-In-One) Test. However not all tests are offered. As for PI/PO tests only "Sum8" and "Sum1" are offered. I'd be nice if "Burst" and "Basic" test could be selected too.

All PlexTools versions

In Burst Test "POE" results display is deactivated by default. Please activate by default . In automated tests like above, please make a selection of results per test possible.

Provide a Lightscribe 16x/18x dvd burner.
Reduce the price of your burners!
Your losing business because your drives are way over priced!

ask them which loyal customer it was who asked for locking drivers in a way that makes it impossible to use them on operating systems other than windows

Could you PLEASE release PTPro 2.33 on www.plextools.com since it's already delivered with the PX-760 and Premium2 for weeks? What is the holdup? Do people really have to to places like this **link edited** (for example) to get it?

I appreciate the introduction of advanced video settings in PTXL 3.09. The programm would be perfect if I was able to switch from composite to tv tuner to s-video and back on the video capture page.
Moreover, setting the GOP length to 12 does not limit the GOP's to 12. Please, have a look at this.

Another request re. PTXL and video grabbing: At present, the cooperation of advanced settings and the scheduler need some cleaning up. I'd suggest the following: Introduce an "use advanced settings" check box in the scheduler and make changes override them.

The problem was that I wanted to record one long clip at a lower bandwidth and keep the rest of the advanced settings (e.g. dvd compatible, a maximum number of gops of 12). But because I had left advanced settings checked, the resulting bandwidth of the recording was higher than requested.

Re. ConvertX PVR TV402U:

The drivers still need some cleaning up. Frequently, audio is slightly lagging behind the video sequences. It must be about one to two tenths of a second, sometimes occurring in parts of programmes only. Unfortunately, there is no clear precondition to make it happen. My machine (P4 3.2GHz, 2x512 MB DC-RAM) should be fast enough.

Another problem is that the device gets lost in PTXL after an additional external device, e.g. a hard disc, is connected to or disconnected from the system. A rescan fixes the problem, but I doubt any scheduled recordings will be started. (Haven't tried this yet.)

Thirdly, a recording is cancelled in PTXL if I switch to the 716 to burn or test a disc. While this is absolutely normal , please add a warning message for forgetful people like me .

P.S.: And please make the update server show the same version that has been distributed .

P.P.S.: InterVideo DVR closes without warning if I press the e-mail button on my keyboard.

NO! Make PTXL multitasking capable so that the use of one function does not monopolize the whole program. What use is the "swiss army knife" approach if you can only use it for one thing?

Another little flaw: On occasions, turning the preview on results in a corrupted video with flickering coloured vertical stripes. Turning preview off and on again fixes this. I don't want to imagine this happens when a scheduled recording starts .
