The only way you'll know for sure is to try them. I'm betting you'll have better results with the -R media.

The problem with recordable media and drives in general is that the sample discs that drive manufacturers use to tune their drives are usually of higher quality than what is available on the shelves for consumers. TDK 16x DVD-R is recommended media for the PX-760A, but really that is based on the discs made in Japan. The discs made in Taiwan probably won't be up to the same quality standard and won't burn as well.

No one can tell you that for sure, not even the drive manufacturers. Different batches of the same discs can have varying quality, and most drives will slow the speed down if they detect problems during the writing process. The simple answer is that TDK 16x media is supported at 16x on the 760A, but in reality they may or may not reach max speed.

you can always turn PowerRec off and burn full tilt...the same drive will probably read it fine, but you'll most likely end up with compatibility/readability issues with other drives and stand-alones.

Doesn't exist mate. If the disc is having issues, drives will drop the speed to maintain quality. Unless like drpino said, you disable that functionality, which would defeat the purpose as you'll often end up with a 100% coaster that 100% burned at 16x.

I would say 12x will most probably work. As a 12x burn will take about 7 minutes and a 16x burn takes 6 minutes this doesn't make much of a difference as its anyway twice as fast as going with 4x. If the media is bad, there will be no burner on the whole world that makes superfastsupergood burns.

Check the media list at http://www.plextor.com/english/support/media_760.htm for the MID of your discs. That will tell you the drive maximum speed.

Really?.. if 12x and 16x is that little difference, it wont matter much to me. But i have 300 discs o.o
