This is indeed a pleasant surprise... I happen to have quite a bit of the Verbatim MCC03RG20 media and it has not impressed me at all... Perhaps my PX-755SA will do better now... I'll hold a little hope for my PX-716A and getting a firmware update now too.

I'll wait for a command unprotected version of the PX-760A 1.07 firmware since I use PxScan for scanning on this drive.

Maybe this is one real reason for a new firmware to get rid of the unprotected versions. Plextor seems to have successfully wiped out the net of the free versions and now tries to seduce you to overwrite your unprotected firmware with a new protected one.

I'd stay with the unprotected 1.06 firmware forever if necessary, and I would never have even bought the drive if no unprotected firmware had been available, since using PxScan is my main reason for getting a PX-760A in the first place.

No, but Plextor has something against PxScan. PXScan is for scanning much more useable. With one graphic I get every values for that Plextools need 5 ones. And with PXScan I can also save the numeric values with the graphic in Plextools not.

Ehm, there's something I've realised for the first time: One of my drives keeps creating new strategies for every dvd I load. These are RITEKF1, I know, don't kill me, but what is more likely, a defective drive or inconsistent media?

If the burns are OK it might be the media.

Do you get different results when doing "media quality check" several times? Different results with AS OFF?
