Taking a cue from Pianoman, I burned this disc using ImgBurn. I have no idea what happened with the PIE levels around the 0.5GB area, but the PIF is fine over the whole disc, as well as the PIEs over the rest of the disc.

This almost should be called the "Pianoman" thread.

Pianoman: It's curious how you have AS off for your burns, but it seems to work very well in most cases, as some of the results could be due to media quality variation. You've gotten really good results, and I especially like what your LiteOn 1693s scans on the results... appropriate to use that as your scanner, since the other Plextors that *would* scan would use 1ECC, so that's going to be more representative of your actual Plextor burn.

Two Degrees: Maybe that PIE hump instance was due to AS being on and maybe that's why Pianoman has his "off," at least for supported media, I assume...

I found Airhead's cookbook and all he did was edit my signature!

These discs were made by Prodisc (lot number ZD5175-DVR-T47D); the one from the last post was made by CMC. That PIE spike is odd.

that's the kind of great results I've come to expect from TY. You must have unbranded.

They're Sony branded (if you're talking to me).

Lot number on these discs is GG000077 1001. No difference in quality between these and the Sony-branded discs, which are presumably Premium quality. The Lite-On spikes can probably be ignored; I many have to grab one of those $32 16x Lite-On burners from NewEgg for scans as my 812@832S is getting a bit long in the tooth.

These consumer-grade Maxell discs always seem to show lots of PIFs when scanned, but they're decent.

I bought a Lite On 165P6S a while ago and you would be surprised at how well the new Liteys burn which is a bonus.
