| Taiyo Yuden -R 16x (TYG03) sold as Panasonic PX-760a, FW 1.04 AS: AUTO (did not create strategy, 18x not supported by AS) Burn speed 18x CAV, no slowdown Comparison to 18x on earlier batch of media with FW 1.03: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...20&postcount=2 Comparison to 18x on same batch of media with FW 1.03 but BP off: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...7&postcount=40 Very good burn. TA-Test says: very good 5/4, very good 5/4, good 4/3. No readback problems in the 760. The 716 had some problems. Interestingly different tries produced different reading-curves, so the problem must be of a general type and not relate directly to a certain part of the media. | Addendum to the 18x Yuden T03 000 burn as shown here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...9&postcount=50 Upon visual inspection of the writing surface it seems there is a fault in the dye in one spot at the very outside of the disc. There is a cloud like discolored area. The slowdown is therefore likely to be attributed to a physical problem of the media. |

| Verbatim +RDL 8x (MKM 003 00) as sold by Verbatim PX-760a, FW 1.04 AS: Auto (did not create strategy, AS does not support DL) Burn speed 10x P-CAV, slowdowns as in writing-graph Beta/Jitter scan resulted in an error at the layer break so i had to scan in a 716. It looks like FW 1.04 still does not fix that bug. Since the 716 is only an average reader this makes the B/J scan look worse than when scanning with the 760 (at least on the first layer where scanning worked). Keep this in mind when comparing the results. Beta still does not look very good (way to low). However TA-Test says: good 4/3, not good 2/3, good 3/3 , very good 5/4, very good 5/4, good 4/3 and a 716 has no problems reading this. IMHO nothing has been done in this FW to improve high speed DL writing, which is a shame. Writing, Burst, Sum1, Beta/Jitter (716), Read (716) scans: |

| In this posting: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...8&postcount=59 it should, of course, read; "Compared to an AS burn with FW 1.03 ..." |

| Plextor 650MB 24x USRW (Mitsubishi Chemicals Type 4) PX-760a, FW 1.04 Burn speed 24x Z-CLV, no slowdown Very low C1 error rates (except at the beginning) for USRW media. In comparison to FW 1.03 ( http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...59&postcount=6) the rates are even a bit lower and the difference between a burn after a full erase and a quick erase has even become smaller. | Verbatim +RDL 2.4x (MKM 001 00) PX-760a, FW 1.04 AS: Auto (did not create strategy, AS does not support DL) Burn speed 6x CLV, no slowdown Compare to FW 1.03 http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...26&postcount=7 this seems slightly better (especially Beta). Good result.TA-Test says "good" across the disc and both layers. But the 760 reads this only 2x, the 755 at a full 3-8x. Burst, Sum1, Beta/Jitter,scans: |

| Taiyo Yuden Type 1 700MB 48x as sold by Verbatim PX-760a, FW 1.04 Burn speed 48x CAV, no slowdown Found these in a store today. Verbatim Europe is selling Yuden in their typical cakebox (50pcs). Reorder Nr. 43351, Made in Japan and the packaging says nothing about "advanced Azo" (as it does in some cases of Yuden DVD sold by Verbatim )Anyway, it's always amazing to see the results when you pair up Yuden with Plextor. FE/TE shows us truly superb mechanical characteristics to begin with. As for the result we're looking at something of a personal record: C1 1906 total, 0.4 average. FE/TE, C1/C2, Beta/Jitter scans: |
