Open Letter to Plextor

Since Plextor has not to replied to my wholly civil & polite email, I'd like to be more certain they clearly understand all of the ramifications of their recent actions. Please feel free - or not - to add your own "signature". I'd also like to ask anyone who wishes to discuss the contents to do so in another thread as I'd like Plextor to clearly understand from this thread how many of their best customers and "early-adopters" they have lost. of CDFREAKS.COM, RankOne Media Group (NL), or any of their staff,
affiliated companies or sponsors, web hosting company, or anyone else.

Dear Plextor,

I, an individual member of the informal Plextor community forum at
CDFreaks and Plextor customer, have recently become aware of a dispute
between your Company and two forum members.  While I am not aware of every
nuance of your complaint(s), I feel that what little is known so far
reflects very badly on Plextor and all its representatives.  Unless and
until you provide further clarification and resolution of this dispute to
me and the other members of this community, I resolve, as part of fully
exercising my rights as a consumer to publicly state a product preference,
to inform you that I will:

-Indefinitely suspend purchasing or new licensing of any hardware or
software products produced or promoted by Plextor, its subsidiaries,
or parent companies.  This includes all Plextor optical drives, Plextools
Professional® (or upgrades), Plextools XL®, Plextor Personal Video
Recorders, Plextor-branded blank media, or any other Plextor-branded
products available now or in the future;

-Indefinitely refrain from promoting, recommending, supporting, or
demonstrating the use of any version of Plextools®, or any other
Plextor-branded software;

-Recommend competing or alternative products to friends, family, strangers,
business associates, and I.T. & Purchasing departments at every opportunity; 

-Publicize the known and verifiable aspects of this dispute as widely
as possible via any communications medium I deem fit, for as long a period
as it suits my purposes to do so.

I agree that Plextor has not behaved at all fair to a person who put a lot of time and effort into a free tool, that in many ways would help them. I hope Plextor can start being reasonable in how they deal with this.

OK. After reading what has happened, being a linux user myself, I will NEVER buy another Plextor drive. EVER.

I will make sure that I tell everyone I can that Plextor is NOT the brand to buy.

Both the Lite-On SOHW-1693S & NEC ND-3540 are starting to sound pretty damn good....and at half the price to boot & completely open to the open source community...^_^

My recommendations for my family & friends now go out to any new burners by NEC & Lite-On. My only regret is that I'm 2 months passed the date I can return my 716A drive....got a bug/error free drive only after 3 exchanges. ;P

I'm not defending Plextor here but you seem to forget that Lite-On had a huge problem with websites posting Kprobe software and scans.. Lite-On is far from an open source supporter.

I just remembered I have a 6'th PlextorBurner put in my mothers PC , so all in all 2 internal and 4 external ....

PLEXTOR , we are Your customers , we are Your economical safety-net , please don't do anything irreversible !

In my multimedia-company I recommend ASUS , CORSAIR , M-AUDIO , CANOPUS , TY's

as King of their trades ; will BenQ or NEC take Your place now ??????????????

For Your orientation , I have never seen that much traffic in ClubCDFreaks ever ...
