FW 1.11 for PX-708a/uf

Then I'm out of luck...

anyone can suggest anything??? I'm kind of desperate right now... having two 708A, do I need to buy another drive to burn cds???

It's really a stretch, but do you have any "unusual" CD burning software installed, like Alcohol 120%? It has a setting that "hides" CD media and can cause CDs to behave wierd with any software that tries to access the CD, including Windows Explorer. It's unlikely, but do you have Plextools installed?

If it is a software/configuration problem, you should do your best to find another computer where you can temporarily install the 708 and see how it behaves there. If it is a flashing/hardware problem, try and explain your situation (again) to Plextor and see if they're sympathetic.

already tried on another PC with different configuration and also tried to boot from cd, to make sure it's not an OS problem... it didn't work...

I think my only hope is to try again with plextor, as you say, and see if they can help me...

Maybe your PC has ruined something during flashing process. (Maybe Nvidia IDE drivers, faulty cable etc...)

it's a possibility indeed... but my friend flashed his own PX-708A drive with his own downloaded firmware and also got same results... as far as I know, my cables are ok... but I think it's possible something my friend and myself have in common (living in same town maybe??? )... but don't know what could be...

1.11 works fine on my 708UF...

do you have plextools pro installed? if so, what are your drive settings at?

I flashed it a long time ago (August, month of release) and had no problems at all burning CD-Rs.

You're not the only one with this problem (or have you since solved it?)

I recently installed firmware v1.11 and have had success burning DVDs, but now I tried burning a CD and my 708A is unable to detect CDs. I've tried blank CDs as well as music CDs, and the led on the drive just flashes yellow (two dashes, then pause). Windows and Nero both act as if no disc has been inserted.

I guess I'll look around on the web for solutions, maybe reflash to an earlier version if possible.

what is your "Drive Spindown Time" set to in plextools professional? set it to 2mins or greater and see if that helps...

I don't have plextools installed... and I haven't solved my problem yet...

I'm still searching the web for some solution... it's so frustrating...

I already tried to reflash to every previous firmware, no luck...
