| Probably a Benq. Please post the model name and current firmware version as reported by Nero InfoTool or DISCInfo or another similar software.

| I received this info from nero but could not find an actual name brand for the cd drive. Firmware: 1.0 Date 01-09-14 Serial Number A 015428 |
| Not the Serial Number, the Model Number. Look in the drop down box.

| If you are referring to the main drop down box that will switch between my SONY DVD RW DRU-500A the normal CD burner just says 24X10X40 CD-RW. So there is no model name in that drop down. |
| Ok, I finally took apart my system and got some more information the company is PINE http://www.pine-support.com/ I downloaded the firmware file and unziped them both into the same folder and ran the .exe, but of course it comes up saying: Cannot update for different Type Code. *** NG ** NG ** NG *** Make sure Selected Source File. Its showing the new source file in the RWFlash program, I just dont get it. And now my drive no longer shows 24X10X40 as the company and model it now shows: RICOH FirmwareLoader2. This is what Nero is stating it as and so does the fireware program. Any advice? |
| Oh good lord! Now my CD ROM wont even open, it just flashes its data light every now and then and there is no cd in it. I tried to find the backup file that RWFlash was suppose to make but no luck Please anyone know anything??? Like a way to clear my firmware or anything to just get it back to the way it was? |
| I believe that there is a certain way that you should connect a jumper in the back of the drive when it is in Ricoh Firmwareloader mode to reflash the firmware. Try searching online for something involving "firmwareloader" and "jumper".

| Ok, I looked around and saw someone with the same problem (about a year ago ) but some people were able to help him out with a program called DOS Flash. The link that was on the site of course no longer worked. Dont suppose anyone knows where I could get this program. I did a search but no luck. I was unable to find any information as to changing the jumpers around to clear the firmware. |
