I am trying to find a firmware update for a CD recorder in a Gateway computer. I have tried the Gateway website with no luck. The computer model number is FLEXATXSTC BRO Essential 633C. The CD drive comes up in devicer manager as IDE-CD R/RW 8x4x32. The drive has started recognizing all cd-r/rws as read only. I can open and view files but cannot add to the discs. I cannot format. Does anyone know where I can find a firmware update for this recorder? Thank you.

First clean the lens of the drive.

If this won't work flashing another firmware is useless because it cannot resolve hardware problems.
