| People need to understand something about firmware updating; if you update your firmware, and this makes the drive unusable, the solution is not to flash back to your old firmware, but to get any proper firmware onto the drive. Either you misflashed the drive, used a firmware for a different revision, or something else happened with software to make it not work. Firmware updates don't usually wreck a drive after they work correctly.

| I upgraded my copy of Nero Burning to 6.6.0.8 and the DVD burner would not write DVDs. The message says "completed successfully" but Windows can not read the disk! The next upgrade was 6.6.0.13 but no different. DVDs burned prior to this are also unrecognised. Nero advise that firmware be updated, at present 1031 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.8 (Not 6.6.0.13!) Strange! So far I have found 1034, 1734, 1M34 and 1N34! I am confused as to the differences and which one to use. Any help gratefully received. Thanks in advance. Sea-Dog |

| Hi again. Found a link to the "Official" Toshiba downloads page and of course it said that 1031 should be upgraded with 1034! The English during installation was not clear especially when it intimated that the drive may be "broken"! It seems to have taken but under management still shows as 1031! On attempting to install again I got the "not required" message, so I am assuming that all is well. I burned 50 MB of assorted fies to disk to try it out and the DVD was recognised by Windows. We shall see what happens with large files. Anybody got any tips / comments? Cheers - Sea-Dog |
