No firmware updates for the AD-800 exist.

I finally got an answer from Apex customer service:

Thank you for contacting Apex Customer Service with your inquiry regarding the DVD player. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that you may have experienced. We are sorry inform you that we do not have firmware for the DVD player. You could also contact us at our toll free number 866-427-3946 for further assistance.
