Where to get a VCR with a Firewire 6 pin port

I do not need it to play or record DVDs since that costs extra but if you know of one under $200, please tell me. Or is it better quality or less dropped frames to get a Capture device with Firewire? Thanks in advance.

Re: Where to get a VCR with a Firewire 6 pin port

You wont find one.

The firewire port is a digital port and as such is not suited to a VCR at all.

All you need to do is connect your camcorder up with the analogue cables and record in real time. The quality will still be as good as you can get from a VCR.

As for working with a PC, as long as your PC meets some basic specs then adding a firewire card should allow you to edit digital camcorder footage without any problems.

Re: Where to get a VCR with a Firewire 6 pin port

If by any chance you mean a digital recorder when you say VCR, please note that you only need a 6 pin firewire port if you want it to supply power to the connected device, and this doesn't happen and it has not any advantage to cpature video from a digital camera.
Apart from power supply a 4 pin firewire port does exactly the same.

On the rest, you have the info above.

Re: Where to get a VCR with a Firewire 6 pin port

I want to capture footage from VHS tapes so I can edit them on the computer and thought I could connect the VCR to the computer for capture through the firewire cord. I do not want a port for connecting a camcorder. I also ready two 6 pin ports. I already have a 4 pin to 6 pin cable if I did though. What I'm asking is where to get a excellent quality firewire capture device that connect to those composite cables.
