Whay Am I Doing Wrong With Dl

I have 2 DL Burners one is a BTC the other is a BENQ DQ60. For some reason I can not do a DL burn. Is it the burners or is it me and my pc, runin' win xp media ctr. I am using Verbatim and the other ...RIDATA ? or something like that. They will do DVD5 all day long... maybe it is the software. I am using DVDFAB and Magic DVD , have Nero 6 , never tried that. I am trying to copy a dvd movie...will nero do that. On the other ones maybe I should just select " movie only " instaed of whole dvd. I want to do a DVD9 , the movie on one dvd.

use dvd decrypter in "iso Read" mode then "iso write" mode...
works every time

also...try 2.4x speed always....and i would use the benQ over that btc anyday..

CD BURNER... It was 2x ( wow) CD-R media was $1.25 ea , made a few coasters, then I hit on thw winning fix. thanks much

I know, I bought the the BTC as an I/O MAGIC thinking that it would work as predictably as a regular cd / dvd burner.... wrong. So I asked here what was a good DVD burner and someone posted a reply BENQ. So I bought a BENQ only to find that the one I picked has the same chip set or one simularly as bad as the BTC. so it's like WTF ? Is this a wrong impression or what, I am not out for performance..bench marking my dvd burner... I just want to burn a DL DVD. Should either one of these DVD burners be able to burn a DL DVD with any program ? or ... is it these drives , if I had selected something else
I would be able to use just about any DL burning program. or is just the process of burning a DL DVD , a finacky process made even worse by a badly manufactured burner or ..... what ? I will try the DVD Decryptor program and see how that does.

Sorry for whoever recomended the benq (in case it was me). Their previous drives are good though tat models seems to maybe even not be made by them????
Use dvd decryptor as Nosmartz said so that the layer break gets put in the same place. Hopefully that will help and if not, watch for firmware updates the benq.
It may seem really shitty for me to say this, but maybe a new burner would help. I would recoment a benq 1640 or an nec 3500/3540 (as those are models that I know are good). I wouldn't put a lot of effort into the btc, but the benq you got is new, maybe it has some unrealized potential. Watch for firmware updates/hacks.

...thanks for the advice,,,, it was not that much and it still works as a DVD + - R DVD5 burner. I will give it to a family member. OK I will watch for firmware upgrades. They might turn it all around with a firmware upgrade , sounds like BENQ has a good reputation, they might want to uphold that. I am going to try DVD decrypter right now.

Make sure that when you are using DvD Decrypter, that when you go to use the iso write mode that you use the mds file to burn from because it contains the vital info on the layer break.

If it is the final ver of dvd decryptor, it will give you a message like you are suposed to use the mds file, but we forgive you this time, let me select it for you and it gose for the mds file anyway (at least that is what it did to me when I first tried to burn dual layer with it).

ripit I got that message and used the mds ... still did not work. Does not matter . I applied for an rma , they sent me an email back saying that they are going to send me an rma for a full refund and not charge me the 15% restocking fee either. At newegg you can review the hardware, the reviews for the dq60 are all bad, actually there are only 3. I think they locked it out since the ones they have already are not positive for the dq60. i submitted a review and it has not posted yet.

Ouch, two crappy burners and crappy media. Good luck with the RMA and getting a good drive.
