sony 810?!?

Some manufacturers now supply their drives with a beige and black front bezel.
I think they are Asus and Plextor, surely more...

I suppose it depends on where you live. DownUnder I can buy a black-faced Pioneer OEM 110 drive at one of our computer markets (we call them swap meets, but really, most of the stuff on sale is brand new) for about AUS$65. BUT don't ask for warranty and don't always expect a receipt. Generally I haven't had a problem buying this way. If you want consumer protection, then go to one of your local hypermarts or shopping centers and pay a bit more.

The bezel color isn't that big of a deal, but black would be cool. I'll take function over looks for sure.

If you are just looking for a solid DVD Ripper/Reader then the Asus E616A gets my vote. Great at reading through screwy/bad quality discs.

Never used Asus drives before, Jesterrace...seen reviews in our PCMagazine, though...they reckon they're good. I have used Asus boards before...good reliable quality. I still like Pioneer...of all the drives I have installed and used (and that's lots!) they seem to be the most reliable...but maybe I'm biased! (I don't have shares in Pioneer, by the way...hehe!)
