Question: verbatim dvd+r dl problem

I have a Toshiba satellite L305 with a tsst ts-l633a dvd+rw drive. I just got some verbatim dvd+r dl 2.4 disks. i never tried them but i heard they are good. problem is whenever i simply insert a blank verbatim disk my laptop wigs out. the drive keeps spinning and trying to read the disk and my laptop slows down then freezes. it takes awhile to eject but when it ejects my laptop then says (under my computer) its just a cd-rom. then if i try it again it loses the drive completely. i have to system restore to get it back. What the heck is going on? it runs vista basic by the way, and it reads other blank dvd+rw dl disks fine.

you sure your writer can do DL media?

I've seen these symptoms when inserting a DVD in a CD only writer

Use a proper burning app!

Reading blanks is useless and i hardly doubt you have "blank dvd+rw dl disks ".

i meant it accepts other blank dvd+r dl just fine. i got a blank memerex dvd+r dl disk from a friend and it took it fine and burned just fine. I'm running imgburn. its not my app not taking it its my computer not taking the blank verbatim dvd+r dl.

It is all about YOUR DRIVE/burner.
It is not prepared to burn those DL discs, maybe not even to recognize them.

What MID does imgburn show for them?

I concur, your burner does not like Verbatim media - just use what works fine for you.
