| I recently finished burning a movie to dvd using imgburn. The original source files were in avi format. I have used Winavi to convert them in which I ended up with audio ts and video ts folders. So I proceeded as normal and put them on imgburn and burned the disc. However the disc plays in the the computer but not on my dvd player. I know its not a media issue as I have made several dvds from vob files using the same discs and dvd player to play them. This was my first time messing with avi files. Is it just the program I used? It did give me two seperate video ts folders though. So I put one folder into the other. Maybe this messed it up but i'm thinking not due to it playing on my computer. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I would like to know which program have any of you had good success with when doing avi files to dvd? Thanks |

| thanks, yea I may try some other programs before I waste too many blanks |
| Try DVDFlick or FAVC or AVStoDVD for complete backup from avi to finished dvd ready to burn.

| YA I should have mentioned that Convertxtodvd will not only convert, but let you edit titles, background etc,, and it will save a T_S folder as well as burn to dvd once it is finished converting ... all I do is drag n drop in the Avi, do whatever Title mods etc that you want, put in a disc and it does the rest

| now convertxtodvd leaves a watermark unless you buy it correct? I was wondering if its younger version divxtodvd leaves a watermark as well? |
| No it doesn't, but you'd be much better off using FAVC or one of the others I mentioned. The HC encoder that you can use in FAVC or AVStoDVD produces much better quality results.

| ok kool, well I did try divxtodvd right quick and everything seemed fine and it converted seemingly fine, plays on the computer but not on my dvd player. It gave me the video_ts folder as normal again with these files in it: Video_TS.BUP Video_TS.IFO VTS_01_0.BUP VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_1 VTS_01_2 VTS_01_3 all looks normal to me, its just a hour and 20 min movie, so I used IMGburn but no luck with it working on the standalone. Could the intial file be corrupt, it wouldn't seem so as it plays fine on the pc. Or should I continue to try other programs like FAVC. It seems to be better if I just buy a dvd player that will play divx, my old one did but it broke. |
| Do the dvd files you got from divxtodvd play ok in the computer? If you don't have dvd software, try VLC. www.videolan.org If they play ok on the computer, your problem may be the type of blank media you are using or the burning speed.

| yes those files play fine, the original source files also play fine. I do have ffdshow on my system. Maybe its just my dvd player is too picky it is only a cheaper magnovox one, although for being a cheap player it has been excellent. It plays all my other burned dvds but those were all from actual copies. They do play fine on windows media player though Last edited by Juggalo Jeff; 12-01-2009 at 07:48. | Hmmm, do you have DVDShrink on your computer by any chance? If so, try opening the dvd files you got from divxtodvd with Shrink. I don't want you to do anything with Shrink other than see if it can open the files and analyze them. DVDShrink is a stickler for correct dvd structure and if there is anything wrong with the files, it won't open correctly. If Shrink won't work, run the files through FixVTS. Then try again. If Shrink has no problem with them, I think your problem is more on the media/burning side.

| Maybe I could just try a different write speed then, I have been using the same phillips blank media for a alot of dvds and never had any problems although those were all sourced from actual copies, maybe a dff brand would work |
| Yeah I just tried shrink and went to open files and it opened the video ts folder just fine |
| If you are going to try different media, the most recommended type around here is Verbatim 16x. Best Buy carries them. If you can't find them, Sony is usually a good alternative. Try burning at 8x.

| What make of Dvd Player & what blank media are you using. ImgBurn produces a burn log, could you post that? If you launch ImgBurn & in the main window click help & you will see ImgBurn Logs.

| Why 7 files 2 folders? Try setting write speed to 8X & follow this. I am sorry I only had time to take a quick glance, have to get to bed. http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=86750

I made the AUDIO_TS folder as the guide I read months ago on afterdawn said that if you don't get a audio ts folder, to make one anyway when using imgburn for compatibility reasons. Everytime I copy from a source disc I always get an AUDIO_TS folder that has nothing in it but I put it in Imgburn anyway. This time around from the orginal avi file the conversion didnt give me an audio ts folder so i just make one as the guide said anyway, THANKS for your help and thank you kerry as well |
