| Welcome to the forum  If the problem is with rented DVDs, and not purchased ones, it's probably due to the condition of the rentals. I'm guessing they play fine on a standalone (standalones play at a slower speed than PC drives). All I can suggest is giving the rental DVDs a clean, I have a "Disc Doctor" thing that does the trick on borrowed discs that haven't been kept very well.
