| Yes people seem to be asking easy questions |
| Funny thing about being a newbie, every expert in every field was once a newbie. So there should be no disgrace or derogatory connotation from the term. In fact, it shows a willingness to experiment and learn. I don't regard myself as a newbie here anymore, but 5yrs of reading and participating does that to you. So, fields of expertise? Hmm, I can build a house from the ground up. I can make handcut dovetails and make furniture of my own designs. I've worked as an editor and researcher in the distant past. I'm supremely skilled at hitting golf balls sideways....without even intending to! |
| What's your expertise imkidd?

| I like to consider myself an expert on finding "le mot juste." I love it when I can write something that is concise and exactly what I want to say. Or I could say I am expert at being an amateur everything... I've done everything from assisting the President/Owner of a financial management firm to digital dialogue editing to hacking my cell phone to exotic dancer to writing/casting/directing gay porn.... Anybody wanna help me with my resume? I need a job. (Hey DoMiN8ToR, cool avatar.)

| A day is not wasted if you learn something new. ![]() Sometimes I forget just how much I don't know. But I do know somethings about recorders, media, HiFi and how to make them work. |
| Very true, which is why each member is an important part of the forum ![]() I still consider myself a "newbie" in some areas - Hi-Def, for example ...my strengths I would say are problem-solving and troubleshooting (not just techie stuff). ![]() And what's this, we still haven't heard from Imkidd...

| Not sure about calling myself an expert, but I've gotten pretty darn good at restoring old and new/bad photos with photoshop. I've spent months doing tutorials, and I've repaired/restored hundreds of photos.. And I dabble with digital video, especially capturing dv-avi, editing it, and then encoding the video so I can watch it and share it with the family (the home video's that is).

| Ah well I have been known to give the occasional opinion on clinical virology. Unfortunately people's eyes start to glaze over pretty rapidly so I try not to make a habit of it in public . However a few major issues that currently worry us are:
Otherwise my biggest ongoing newbie project is bringing up my two daughters; both are teenagers now so every day is unfamiliar and different. ![]() Helping out on CD Freaks is a wonderful bit of light relief

I can turn into a human pretzel. I am good at spades. I can cook, ride ATV's, run a tiler, weed wacker, chain saw, tractor..ect...I shoot, hunt and fish yes in a boat also LMAO Ohhhh and I quit smoking cigarettes in March of this year |
| I'm probably not quite a newbie, just someone who mainly learns by mistakes and has some serious holes in his knowledge of computers, though, because of the mistakes, some of the holes are becoming smaller (I think) ![]() But I am fairly expert at creative writing - write it and teach it locally. ![]() Puzzled why there seems to be so many problems with DVD/CD disk drives (surely a basic part of a computer) which I've experienced twice in a week. Both times the machine couldn't find the driver - therefore the drive, yet it could still tell me I had the latest version of the driver when I tried to reinstall/update it. ![]() With your help I sorted out the laptop (HL-ST-DT...) - found what seemed to be a Visual Basic "fix" on a recommended site. However, my brand new Optiarc AD-7200S DVD/CD drive, as soon as it had loaded all the programmes I need, seemed to decide to hide from the computer and as yet haven't found the answer. Looks like it'll go back to the shop. ![]() Cheers, C. |
| Hey all, I'm new here but I figured this was as good a thread to introduce myself in as any...I am a great legal researcher, I love Ancient Egypt (et. al.), MCP (x3), MCSE, A+, Network+, two A.S. degrees (working on a third), father of four, love watching ELMO and all sorts of other kid movies and shows with my children, a great cook and pastry baker (if I do say so myself), the family historian and genealogist, and am an all around n00b when it comes to DVD authoring/duplication. Yep, that sums me up... |
| Hi there, I am new :P I am a graphic designer. I do both web and print, and rock. AND...i like to make things. Thats pretty much me inna nutshell. Oh, and i love to play video games, hehe |
| Hello, my name is Donald and I'm new here(obviously. Lol.) and I'm taking classes for computer engineering next fall. I thought it might be a good idea to gain more insight on my major if I joined cdfreaks. I know a good bit about modding games(certain ones...ex. GTA: San Andreas) and things of that nature, so if neone would like to ask me sumthin about that or relating to that, feel free to ask me. I also know a good bit about tech repair as well(depending on what the problem is). I would like to know more about converting files.(i.e. CCD files to iso...by the way, if I wanted to ask a question bout that, I'd come here to this forum, right???) I'm also good at writing poetry and just writing in general...my second hobby) Neway, it's nice to meet all of you. Hope some of you can answer my questions! Thanks! |

| I'm been installing "home automation" for about 10 years now in Orlando, FL Been using DVDFab to burn movies to the hard drive and now am looking to see if there's an option for Bluray also. Ideally would like to automate the process of burning a DVD/Bluray to hard drive for future customers. I figure they own the stuff they should be allowed to store it on their own HTPC. Products I program include: HAI, Control 4, Cinemar, Harmony, etc. Looking forward to chatting with everyone. |
| Greetings all! Just joined, so I guess I'm a newbie here. Normally pretty good at fixing things, actually! I'm spending a year in France atm & went home for a week in October... I spent most of the time helping out the family. My grandparents had their garage insulated, mother wanted help in the house, my sister is moving house & wanted some heavy lifting done, & my brother wanted light fittings moved, new ones put up, etc. Ah oui, et aussi je parle francais. ![]() (edited by imkidd57) Many thanks, Thomas Last edited by imkidd57; 28-11-2008 at 20:09. | Hi thomato: thanks for the background! ![]() I've taken the liberty of copying the question part of your post into the Newbie forum, since this thread is really only for telling us how good you are at things .It's here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f34/sudden-...aspire-257605/ ...if you want to check it out.

| Yep. If I wasn't I would not have crashed my computer so many times. |
| I am definitely a newbie. As a matter of fact, I can't even figure out how to post a question. I've used forums many times in the past, but where is the place where I can post a new question? It's probably staring me right in the face, but I'm not seeing it. Can anyone help? Thanks! vicki |
