Have an interesting question, probably many know the answer to this!!
I have a DVD Home theatre purchased in Middle East.
I have a LG TV purcahsed in Canada.

Initially I wasn't able to receive a coloured & clear reception from the DVD system on my TV, but since I switched from PAL to NTSC system on my DVD system, I am able to receive colour & clear reception.

Now the query is while DVDs can be played and viewed in colour and with a clear reception on TV, with VCDs I get no colour & the reception is very poor.

Since both the TV & DVD system are now on NTSC why am I unable to get a clear picture when I play VCDs???

Looking forward to your response.

Thank you all

That is just one downside of such obsolete cd formats like VCD.

Check the VCD specs on www.videohelp.com/vcd and you will see it.
But another important point is the real source format of the video and the used devices for playing them back (and its capabilities/features).

It really depends on what your doing with VCDs. I know that the format is wildly distributed for bootlegs, but if you are putting say home videos or something like that on them. They can be excellent quality.

They "can", but more likely when using SVCD, XSVCD or miniDVD formats.

Why not convert your VCD to the DVD format?
