philips cdrw tray doesnot open

my one year old cdrw tray doesnot open, i tried to uninstalling the software and change the jumpers, went to my bios, and still it doesnot work.

did this happen to anyone and what did they do, or does someone have any specific suggestions.

If you push the eject button , does it want to open (you see it move) , or doesn't it do anything at all.

If it's the first case , you might try to eject it via the pin inlet with the aid of a bent paperclip. Do this only if the computer is powered off.

If it's the latter , try the calibration/reset feature all Philips cd recorders have :

Power down computer
Push the eject button on the writer and keep it pressed
Power on the computer , still keeping that eject button pressed
Prevent your computer from booting your Operating System (go to the bios/setup or press pause when its counting memory)
The led's on the writer should blink back and forth and the tray should come out.
Now let go of the eject button , push it again to close the tray
Power down computer
power up and test writer.

I found a simple fix for the tray not opening(showing blocked)

Once you can get it open--try pushing on the door, and moving the unit a little--keep a bland cd/dvd in the tray at all times. For example, you watch a movie, and eject it--before closing the tray, put in a blank cd. I think that it is a weight issue
