| Hi all! First time on here so pleeease be gentle! Im new to all this so any help you can give me please reply like you are talking to a complete beginner! Im having trouble burning both audio CD's & DVD's. 1. CD's - Although Ive managed to burn quite a few audio CD's successfully with both Nero Burning ROM & Nero Express this morning its decided to play up & I have no idea why. I havent changed any settings but after about 1-2 mins it stops burning & informs me theres a 'Write Error'. Its done it for the past four times with Nero Burning ROM & Ive just tried it with Nero Express & I get the same error. Below is a copy of the error report I get... DVD's. Iam able to burn films to DVD but the quality is poor & quite often the film will stick when played back in my DVD player. I currently convert my .avi files into the DVD format via WinAVI converter. I then burn this with Nero Burning ROM. I have also tried this with Nero Vision Express but the length of time (usually over 24hrs!) is far too long & the quality is still poor. When I play the .avi file through either Windows Media Player or DivX Player then its perfect DVD quality. Ive tried different brands of disk (DVD +RW & -RW) but its the same each time. Ive also played my burnt DVD disk in different DVD players but the result is just the same. Any advise would be excellent guys! Thanks... |

Also, have you checked DMA? I'm probably way off base here, there are a few things in the log that leave me stumped! ![]() Edit: about the DVDs sticking on your standalone...could be a media issue also (note the words "could be" )

| Could it be the dreaded DRM kicking in?

| Cheers! I have tried different brands of CD & DVD disks. I have no idea what DRM means!!! Sorry, Im just a novice remember! |
| DRM= Digital Rights Management. Basically, it's copyright protection on the disc.

It's like...It makes me feel alive, you know. It makes me feel human. The only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt something really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good. So I guess what I'm feeling is like a beautiful sadness. Courage and perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into air. I am so glad that GWB's 8 year COD game is finally over. The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them-words shrink things that seemed limitless when in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it? The most important things lie close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller but for the want of an understanding ear. - Stephen King, intro to "The Body." |
| Emjay32... jhtalisman is right in explaining the acronym....sorry, sometimes I get caught up in the technobable myself. If copy protection is on the cd you're attempting to copy, it will screw the copy process up, fatally. Look at this link> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management Hope this helps.

| Thanks for the info. I was using a pack of CD-R disks last night & they were burning audio CDs fine up until today when I tried to continue but no luck! So the disks are identical (from the same pack) as the ones from last night when all was fine. It gets to between 5-10% of burning before it stops so it seems to make a start but doesnt get far! Maybe I'll try re-installing the driver for the burner & maybe re-installing Nero as well. |
| are you trying to burn cd's or rip them rip-to take files off cd do you have windows media player i use windows media player to burn all my songs to cds i find it easy&fast |
