Hello.
Recently I have a problem to burn DVD by Nero Burning Rom 6.6.1.4.
I'm running XP Sp2 memory 1.5Gb. Mad dog double layer +-DVD burner.
The thing is this problem started couple weeks ago after I bought Memorex DVD-R. Before I used TDK DVD-R and everything was just fine. Usually I'm burning AVI video files on DVD. Then after I tried Memorex Nero gives me an error in the very beginning right after caching. Anyway here's log.

Most of us around here avoid Memorex...you can never tell what manufacturer id code you will get, and Memorex seems to market fairly poor quality disks on a regular basis. TDK has recently gone downhill too.

The standard bit of advise is to buy Verbatim. Or go online and buy Taiyo Yuden from a reliable media vendor like rima.com or supermediastore.com (if you are in the US). Buying online you'd have to get a 100 count cakebox, and you might not want that many. Usually easy to find Verbatim locally...Best Buy has them on sale from time to time.

The log shows this burner's firmware version is 1.F0. There is a firmware update available for your burner to version 1.F3. Here is the download link.

Thanx.
But before I update my firmware I have a Q.
I have MAD DOG MD-16XDVD9A2 and on the site you gave me there's 3.F3 update. So which one of 'em is correct for my maddog?
And also it sais about some kind of risk. What is the risky?
And thanx one more time.

3520RPC1.BIN RPC1 and Rip Lock Patches

Rip Lock removes the speed locks on single and dual layer DVD-ROM discs with a VIDEO_TS directory.

RPC1 removes region state handling commands and checks.

--------------------------

An RPC1 firmware defeats the internal counters within the drive and removes region enforcement. This only is HALF of the equation. You need to use DVD Genie or similar software to control your player software. http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=239

Flashing these firmwares requires some risk on your part. If you are not comfortable with this please do not proceed. We cannot guarantee they will work or flash correctly in any environment out of our control.

The flash process requires Real DOS, a DOS box under Windows is not suitable.

The syntax for the flasher, assuming a Secondary Master is

nec3520a -sec -mas -flash 3520xxxx.BIN

Make a backup of your current ROM first

nec3520a -sec -mas -out BACKUP.BIN

I'm sorry but what exactly first should I do?
B/c I run [nec3520a -sec -mas -out BACKUP.BIN] in command line and it couldn't find [nec3520a] file.

If you use a DOS flasher so you MUST use it in REAL DOS.

I suggest you use the w32 binflash version.
