my computer (HP) doesnt really detect my HP Dvd/cd writer combo (400c) at all

hey guys, my computer was acting crappy, so i decided to reformat the crap.

but the problem is, my computer (HP) doesnt really detect my HP Dvd/cd writer combo (400c) at all

before i was able to burn dvds countless of times, yet now it doesnt read crap

what happens is when i put a dvd or a cd in, it looks like its about to load, and then just stops. i check my computer to see if anyting changed, and tried double clicking the drive, and it opens up to a blank folder.

i checked properties, it states that the drive was working correctly.

i tried doin some flash, uninstalling, and letting windows reinstall the driver

i've also tried using hp 400i firmware update

but NOHTING WORKS

i need some help quick
