Missing VOB file named VTS_01_.*VOB

I have been using a Dimax Grex with Toshiba DVR to record PPV movies via satellite system for a long time. I also use AnyDVD/ CloneDVD2 if I wish to make a backup copy of the movie. Only recently when trying to record the movie to a DVD I get and error that says "Missing VOB file named VTS_01_.*VOB". Recording failed.
I can change to use the file system instead of I/O from CloneDVD2 and the movie will record. I would just like to know why this error just started on any PPV I tried to backup. I have recorded many movies previously using the same hardware and software with no issues. Now this error appears with every PPV ,even on different DVR's. Has anyone experienced this error or know how to fix it.
Thank you

One would have to conclude from reading this that it is copy protection coming from your satellite programmer knowing people are copying the movie and are using a new form of protection to prevent you from coping it. That is the most logical reasoning just from the read of it and since you said it just started happening recently you should wonder did they figure how to block your coping of their movies they are streaming you...definite answer....YES....

Re: Missing VOB file named VTS_01_.*VOB

Unlike your normal cable subscription movies, or free-to-air broadcasts, pay to view movies are essentially temporary rentals. They are a one time showing. It doesn't matter that they are delivered to you by satellite feed, they are not intended by their distributor for you to record and then save to discs. So, it doesn't surprise me to find they are trying new strategies to block such copying.

This topic is in a very grey area for our forum. We do not support people backing up movies from rentals. However, we do lend support for anyone making copies on a dvr and then to disc from their regular channels, whether that is cable or over the air.

Since I have to make a decision on this, I'm choosing to side with the argument that PPV is a rental, and thus copying one is not something that can be discussed in these forums. I am, therefore, closing this thread.

If you wish to discuss this further please contact me via a private message. Or you may contact the administrators or management if you prefer.
