Welcome to CDF, pepsi_deaf

You won't need a driver, Windows should automatically detect it.

When you say you can't get it to read a disc, is that blank discs, burned ones, or pressed ones?

Could be that the drive needs a clean. Also trying it on another PC might be handy.

A burner doesn't need TO READ vblank media, only to recognize them.
Make sure you have suitable media for your burner, this especially counts for RW media.

@pepsi_deaf: please do not create extra threads about the same problem. It makes it difficult to get the replies together and will annoy the other members trying to help you.

Two threads merged; some posts deleted.

A thread is the first post plus all the replies to it, in a sequence (like the one we are in at the moment). You, I and the others are addding more posts to make this thread grow by using the 'quickreply' or 'quotepost' buttons.

Starting a new thread (using the 'New Thread' button on the main forum page) is only used for asking a different question, and will similarly grow as replies get added to it. It's possible that you accidentally used this instead of going to add to the original thread.

With reference to your original question:

1) If this LiteOn drive is on the same ribbon cable as the other one, you need to set the LiteOn as 'Slave' by using the jumpers on the back of the unit.

2) The SOHC-4832K is a CD writer but DVD reader only. Do you mean you are trying to burn to a CD-RW or a DVD-RW? Please confirm.
