| Cpu problem after I tried to burn the game , I thought I restart the cpu. So I did restart it and there was a problem with my windows xp. So I had to reset it to the old settings. I don't know what else to do here , I really like the alcohol software. I guest I have to keep trying different ones till my cpu works fine. Thanks Mikey |

| Just the average computer science student from the states...I found this site in the quest for information on CDR media. Kinda tired of buying CDRs to have them unreadable in no time at all. Maybe now I will have the information needed to make quality purchases...thanks! I run a LTR-40125S and an LTD-166. I really dont have a burning software of choice because Im still forming that opinion, hopefully this forum will help me make up my mind! later... |

| Hi Hi, my name is Howard. I'm from Ontario, Canada. My hobbies are playing hockey and playing computer games. I've been touring this board for about a week and finally decided to register. I think that this is a great board and am glad to see that everyone is so friendly and helpful around here, especially the moderators. I only wish that I could help out more, but I'm just a beginner...........so please forgive if my questions sometimes don't make sense. |

| Found CDFreaks.com by way of Alcohol120% Welp... I go by Onlinetracker, but my name is James. I thank all the gods that listen that there is emulation software for CD's and now DVD's because I HATE getting up to put a disc in a cd tray. [I have my computer in an air conditioned closet to keep things quiet and out of the way, 15 feet away from my desk] So, sometimes I need to backup data [I have 5 80GB drives right now] because I work sometimes with massively large files when I scan in an image to do image restoration [photo's of people, places, things] the files take up a lot of space, or the customer wants them backed up for their own records. System Info: Uhm... AMD Athlon 1700+, 1GB RAM, 5 80GB HD's, 1 Philips 241240CDRW, 1 Pioneer DVD-106, 1 Yamaha CRW-F1E, SB Audigy I, G4 4200Ti, oh... sheesh, dunno what else. So... 3 cheers for CDFreaks.com for providing a great place to get informed. Course... I still don't know why there are so many formats with 2 major ones... +/-, nor have I figured out if it matters what format the data was in before you rip it.. but I'll figure it out soon enough. Hope to keep up with the jones' till next time. ![]() Still looking for answers... oh... want to stop spam from reaching your mailbox? go to www.MailAmi.com we've developed an anti-spam mail server with POP/Web access, the site is rough around the edges, but the service is great. | Welcome to CD Freaks. I'd like to tell you one thing about the +/- matters. Some people do not talk about that openly because there have been too many personal fights and bashing (either against + or -) in other great forums while discussing the differences and advantages of the two competing DVD writable format standards. One reason why I have almost stopped posting there. CD Freaks DVD Hardware forum and other forums have been relatively peaceful.

| Nowt wrong with being new!! One thing I've noticed here is they help you to help yourself that though is not always as easy as it sounds There doesn't seem to be " oh do it like this" answers; which athough frustrating at times does help more in the long run. Just wish I could help more, maybe another 10 years |

| newbie Hi my name is Rocky Roc for short 40, USA and Tired of rebuying games for the young ones and need to make backups for them to wear out LOL. I am new to the makeing backup CD's of protected games and have after a few attempts at other programs finally made some progress with alcohol 120%. My computer's aren't the best one PII 450 Zeon intell based, and one PIII 750 Via based motherboards. An HP8250i and an HP9350i I know now probably not the best recorders but at the time sounded good. Your message boards have been helpful. I attempted a PS1 game but it appears you have to incorporate a boot process if you don't have a mod chip. Will have to research that one some more I really don't like makeing coaster's lol. Cheers |

| New Guy I am Vashdi88, chub to my friends in the real world. Three machines, networked at home PII, and two P4's, like an earlier post stated, I am just looking to make good clean backups of games I buy for my kids and myself and keep the originals prestine, nothing illegal about that. My learning curve is vertical, I work for the military and have for 22 years. Would like to learn more about this backups thing so I can pass it on to my son. He is more computer crazy thanI am if thats possible. Anyway, I am a member of many different forums and enjoy participating in all of them. Hope I can add something and get something in return from this one. Thanks for the opprotunity to be invloved and I look forward to being a member.

| Getting acquainted Greetings from Chattanooga, TN USA. I am a retired hardware engineer, after 33 years of working on computers for other people, I have some time to do things on my own for a change. I am a big music fan, collecting and converting my entire record, tape, and CD collection to MP3 keeps me busy. My server currently has 22,000 songs, but I have another 300 CDs I have not converted yet. I am also interested in PVR recording from TV and my old home movies and VCR tapes, and saving them in VCD mode. This way, I can watch the VCD aboard my RV as we travel the country. I enjoy making new friends, and in AB/DL role play. I have already learned from this forum, and look forward to reading lots, and in helping where my knowledge can be useful. |
