Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Howdy.

My name is Gage and I live in exile in Denver, Colorado. I say exile only because I'm originally from southeastern Alaska and I'm becoming restless to get back to the Pacific Northwest where there is an ocean and the grass is green all year.

I love listening to music especially the CDs I've ripped. I think my neighbors must like them as well since I haven't heard them complain when I crank up the stereo. My biggest disappointment however is that I haven't invested the time to understand more of the technology behind burning CDs.

Take care.

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi, I am Tami aka Computerlady,,,
I am by no means new to computers and software but boy has my dad and husband kept me on my toes with it.. I am 40ish and have had pc related jobs for the last 9 years... I love all about computers.. recently though my dad has thrown me a new one...
He has gotten into the Karaoke scene and is now wanting to back up all of his karaoke cd's. He has NO CLUE how to use a computer let alone copy the cd'...so it is up to me... ok here is the delima I am in... I have a Lite-on burner (LtR-401255). I have clone cd, Easy CD Creator v5.0, on my pc... I have seen talk about cd-g svcd's and such... he says the disks he is using have some 1400 songs on them... My question is.. will my burner and software copy these (they are getting very used), will it see, play, write on these cdg's, do I need to buy dvd disks... just plain ole HELP.. tell me what I need!!!

Good to be in a place that can help me!!

Thanks
Tami

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi to all,

I'm new to CD Freaks but am keen to see what's in here as I'm very interested in CD/DVD burning. I'm particularly interested in sourcing for a new DVD writer but not sure which one to buy.

So, if you guys have good suggestions, please feel free to drop me a line.

Happy holidays!

Hi, I'm a n00b, and I like things.

Actually, I've been around this site a while but never joined until now. Yes, I'm a lurker. I find your site to be very helpful, especially when my CD drive wouldn't read my Freespace 2 discs... but I fixed that, thanks to you guys. Hopefully I can contribute something to this site...

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hi. I just got an iPod. I use a G5 Mac. I was just reading "Apple blocks iPod Download ipod ripping tool in iTunes 4.7," Posted by Sean Byrne on 03 November 2004 - 00:13.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. I have backup software, (Personal Backup by Intego). It allows me to synchronize a folder on an external hard drive with my iTunes folder. In addition, I can, (and have), backed up my music library to DVDs.

It seems to me that the arguement for unlimited copying to protect your investment in purchased music is bogus. People just want to "share" their friend's iTunes.

One thing I've heard from a friend that's a bit disturbing is that you can only transfer your music to 3 different computers, after that you have to re-purchase it if you still want it. That does not seem fair, but if you've got it on DVD, how can your 4th, (or 40th), computer know how many copies you've made, since the DVD can only be written to once?

I can understand Apple's position. I was reading about a bill pending in Congress to ban iPods and all similar devices, to protect the music companies.

I found this site when I was looking for a way to open an iTunes file in a program that could edit it, (I have a live track with 18 seconds of the artist thanking the audience for showing up that I like to chop off). Can this be done?

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello all,

My name is Rose and I am just now becoming a member. I research for fun, and hang out with my kids and watch tv most everyday. I know it doesn't sound like much of a life, but I am hopeful to the coming New Year. I am trying to get into the local tech school to become a medical assistant, even though I am out of work, it is going to be a challenge without the extra money.

I love computers, have since 1991. My first computer was a Tandy 2000. Yes, really! Anyway, 13 years later, I've graduated to my very own AMD Athlon system with WinXP and 448 spare MEGS ram. Now that my friends have computers, guess who they call for help? Yep, you guessed it! Its okay though, I think back to the days when I was harrassing the guys in the computer room at work, and figure it's time for me to share the wealth. I really love good movies, any genre, and I love reading a good mystery novel, taking long baths by candlelight (I'm a meditating kind of person, have to be with teenagers in the house!) and going horseback riding when I can.

Anyways, I'm glad to be here and maybe, make some friends. Merry Christmas everyone!

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Just wanted to say hey. Been looking around the site for the last few days and loved all the info about Nero. I've been a member on DVDDecrypter for a while but they prefer DVDShrink for DVD9->DVD5. I like Recode because I can get rid of the extras and keep the functioning menus.
I have backed-up about 70 movies using decrypter and recode with no hassles. But my 3 year old son "fixed" my computer a couple of weeks ago and I can't remember how I had recode configured so Thanks in advance for all the help.

Oh By Golly Have A Holly Jolly Christmas This Year!

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

Hello there,
I am ravi raman and I just registered myself with CDFreaks, although I have been a regular visitor to this site whenever I need to dig up info on PC/DVD/CD burning and other miscellaneous stuff. I have found them very useful as well. A little about me - I am an engineer with a semiconductor company in the businees of making all things connected to the desktop - hence my curiosity is a natural extension of my profession. I like to keep myself updated with the latest gizmos out there even though I may not own them. Looking forward to interacting with you folks and sharing my knowledge.

Re: Introduce yourself: WCRRUN says hello

Who is wcrrun? A older guy, who runs on the road a little, who loves computers [started in '86] for business/email/surfing. I have a solid PC with a P4 [2.4GHz] & 512ram doing W2Ksp3.
I plan to convert a few hundred songs from my beloved vinyl records to a digitial format, then onto CD and DVD.
Then I plan to convert most of my 6100+ 35mm slides to DVD.
I joined CDFREAKS in order to learn and exchange ideas and methods.

I will soon post a query about the problems I am having with a Liteon 812S and *.wma songs that I have downloaded.

I hope I can contribute.

Clayton

Hi all,

I am a Help Desk Technician, I have been working with computers for a long time (formerly a Computer Tech), but lately I joined the US in the economic depression that is eating this country and haven't been able to afford any more tech gadgets, thus, I am a little behind on the latest and the best.

I am here to help and to be helped.

Thanks all!!!!

Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi !

G'day mate.... (how cliche' i know.....)

I'm aussie tim. I'm 22 and been playing with things to see how they work since the commodore 64.... back in the days of the real nibbler. (more importantly, how to make em work better, and then more recently, for free! )

I stumbled across this site after a yahoo search on the ut2k4 playdisc, and thanks to all here, had it sorted in just under an hour.

I like anything loud (4 12 inch alpine subs in my HOME stereo system) or just generally kick ass, so computers have remained right up the top of my list.

anyway, hopefully i can maybe share a little around here and learn a lot in return.

Tim
