| Hi, everyone. I am caphook.I reside way out here in west Texas. I am probably the oldest newbie in this forum....62 and counting. Getting ready to retired soon.bought my first comp. about 7 years ago. never ready did get into it until about 4 years ago. Last year I stumble into this site while doing a search on burning problems. Lot of the stuff thats discussed here is still greek to me, but I have learn a few things. There is a whole lot of tech savy folks here that most of the times, if I can unstand what they are talking about, I can fix some of my comp. problems. As for any helpful input,sorry guys, not there yet. You all have a nice day, caphook |

| Hi, I found your site whilst searching for answers to my software problems. I'm an old dog and new tricks are getting harder to learn. I'm a truck driver by day and use my computer for forums such as Facebook, where I can keep up to date with friends and family. I have been working on my daughters computer and due to all manner of probs decided to install a brand new version of XP. I didn't back up anything, thinking the new install would fix all the probs! It didn't! Now I have a system with loads of probs! CD/DVD is found, but won't work - even after downloading the drivers. CD-WRITER, found but won't work. Audio/Sound - also won't work. I have also installed IE 8 and this seems to have brought my machine to a standstill - I have never known anything so slow. Some guidance as to where on your site I need to look would be gratefully received. Cheers George |

| With a variety of problems like that, you would probably be best off starting a thread in the Newbie forum Oletimer. Welcome to the forums, and lets hope we can come up with a few suggestions for you. And to Caphook, welcome from a fellow W. Texan.

 hello all. I am a newbie alright. I have been to this site numerous time for good info; i finally decided to join. I use my computer for work, hobbies and play at home. I may not be a geek, but I'm not totally technically challenged either Lately I've been spending time collecting and burning movies for the grandkids. | Hi. I was looking for clubcdfreaks. Been awhile since I had been there and this is where I ended up. Oddly my username was stored so I guess this is the place but with a facelift. The reason I came was to find region-free code for my Pioneer DV 220 KV Used to be I could just google clubcdfreak and the name/model of the unit and the code would be there. Having a hard time finding it for this one though. |

| HI I am 47, mother to 3 & grandmother to 6 beautiful little ones. I work at an Elementary school in MI. I got here because I am having trouble downloading my Daughters wedding video from my computer to a DVD to give to her. My DVD player won't except any blank DVD's So I will continue to try & work out this problem. This site looks promising. |

| Hi all I was looking for info on a good dvd burner, then stumbled on to this site (also looking for cd freeks in my bookmarks) looks like its a very good source of information. I am a 48 year old General/House builder, but had to give it up due to ill health, so about 8 years ago i taught myself all about computers, mainly building/repairing them, but only as a hobby, I think thats enough about me, So how are you all doing?
