| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi to everyone. Been reading, laughing and learning on this site since i found you a few days ago and decided to take the plunge and register tonight. I love electrical gadgets, ie: dvd recorders, tv's, computers, and the likes, but am not technical minded. I tend to feel my way around them and hope i get it right I love collecting films especially horror. There's nothing like a demon drink, a plate of nosh, and a good horror, to relax me at night I love my pc and am using software such as decrypter but although i know how to use it, i only know the very basics, that's one reason for joining you all, so that i can bug you with silly questions and hopefully learn loads So pleeeeeze be gentle with me One very silly question is...what the hell does 'bump' lmk, lol, and all those other little sayings stand for??? (I've led a very sheltered life you know!! (NOT) But seriously, i can figure some of them out, but not others. Please feel free to call me Thicko! I found your forum because i was having trouble with the discs i am using, not playing properly in all the dvd recorders/players that i have. So i bought some Taiyo Yuden discs from the net, which i had never heard of before and that's how i found you. Anyway sorry to ramble on, 'yawn' but i think you get the gist. I will just tell you briefly, that i live in Derby Uk, i have a BIG house surrounded by sheep, sheep, and more sheep, (not mine) and horses, (they are on my land but only one of them is mine) i have 2 staffie bull terriers that i love to bits, i am very down to earth, and drink, swear and cuss, within reason, don't we all? and can take a joke.So that about sums me up Anyway, thanx to anyone that reads this for listening to my waffling, and i might be able to pluck up the courage some day soon to ask for help and maybe one day,.....even give it!!!! Hope i have put this on the right page? I'm going back to the forum now to look up some more info. See Ya Milly |

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi Milly - welcome to the forum and thanks for the full introduction .Don't be afraid to ask any kind of question here - that's what the Newbie forum is for. If you do anything a bit wrong then people will set you right in a nice way. There's quite a few internet abbreviations and definitions for you to read up on here (down the page a bit). There is some basic guidance in the forum rules which appear at the top of each subforum here, but in time, you might also like to search around for 'netiquette' - the kind of international expectations of behaviour. Don't worry about this too much though - just get stuck in with any questions you have. BTW *bump* is a way of bringing your question back up to the top of a list that's ordered by 'time of last post', and you just put that text as a reply to your own question thread. For faster moving forums like the Newbie one, it's the preferred method of bringing things back to everyone's attention, rather than creating a new thread about the same thing. As a general guide for international forums like this one, only bump your thread up after at least a day of having no new advice.Enjoy your visit to CD Freaks!

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hey Groovers, I found CD Freaks when I was researching info on how to burn an audio cd with the track names, so my dvd player would read them. While I was researching that, I discovered that there was so much more I needed to know & put into practice to make my cd/dvd devices working to the best that they can. I still have a long way to go, like working out how to update my drivers for my processors & chip set & the hardware I have. Basically my whole system needs to be updated. I think I am like the typical girl, I know how to put petrol in the car (downloading) but checking the oil, what kind of oil to use (Updating the drivers & what is the right one) is Intimidating,to scared of doing the wrong thing & have the whole engine (system) sieze on me. So before I go & ask all the questions that I have to ask. A little Thank You to those that have put together this site and for those that have a lot more upstairs than what I have for technical computer cd/dvd related issues that will have the solution to my problems.Tanegirl |

Thanks for your reply and for the info. I am a bit confused as to where to post questions but i will get used to it soon i hope. I have a question about Ty Yuden discs and also about Decrypter, so could you or anyone please tell me where to ask the questions, or will it be ok to ask it in this part? You all seem a great bunch, and very knowledgeable compared to my one brain cell, so if i do it all wrong or step on anyones toes, please bear with me and i apologise in advance. Thanks Again | |

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi, I'm Beevee, I live in Canada and have recently learned, probably far later than most, that I can download movies onto my PC and burn them to DVD's. No doubt easy for most of you but horrendous for me. So, I have joined you all to pick your brains and I hope you don't mind that because at the moment I am in the unenviable position of not knowing what I'm doing and am probably ripe for being scammed. Perhaps some kind soul will tell me where to post a few question before I forget them, being a bit on the older side of life, I no longer have the memory I once did. |

.We are happy to help with questions regarding pretty much anything to do with PCs and CD/DVD burning, and if you have got your movies from a legitimate site, then please ask away. However, as it says in the forum rules, we cannot assist with illegally sourced downloaded material.

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! That may be so, but this site is from an area where it is illegal and unfortunately that takes precedence. The rules apply, I'm afraid. We are happy to help in virtually all other areas .

| Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! I am new to the forum, also new to copying software, DVD's. I have just had the absolute worst computer experience of my entire computer life. It is re: some DVD copying software that I purchased. It is shareware. I cannot use it, I cannot get the company to refund my money because they says it's shareware. I feel that I have been cheated out of $90. I get nothing. I cannot get my money back from VISA because I used a debit card. I am really a nice person, I don't like to make trouble for anyone yet at the same time I don't want to see this company get away with my $90 and give me nothing but a heartache for an entire week. I am a low income person. I am really angry and depressed over what has happended. $90 is a lot of money to me. I intend to tell the whole world to be very careful re: this particular company. | Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Hi.. Wow... I started out saying I would read all of the introductions to see some of the things other newbies were saying when they joined. But I would have been reading for days, that alone says something about this site. I will say that I am glad that I came across this site in my search for answers regarding my dvd+rw 4x4x12. So far I haven't looked into anything in particular here, but I am overly impressed by your membership. I think I will like it here too. And if I ever forget to say it along the way, I'm glad I joined today! I am from Upstate New York, near Niagara Falls. I like computing, and have been on bbs' before they came up with the world wide web. I recently began to burn some oldies but goodies for my personal library. I am a bit upset because I planned to make copies of our family reunion movies this year, so I have to get on the ball here. Okay... I like to tinker a little with pc's, and I took two courses in repair at a local community tuition free school. I would like to accomplish this task on my own of course with assistance from the experience of users of this forum. No man is an island, and I'm glad I don't have to stand alone! | Re: Introduce yourself: Say hi ! Alo, alo! My name is William and I'm in Kansas City, MO USA. For quite a while, I was under the mistaken impression that Sony and Philips developed CD technology and, for that reason, I stuck with Philips branded CD-Rs. My line of thinking was that, if any brand was going to be compatible with most CD players, it would be the originator of the technology. Fortunately, the Philips CD-Rs seem to have been pretty good, even if I was misinformed on several levels. Once the Philips CD-Rs went off the market, I was reduced to using some super-cheap CD-Rs my roommate had bought a ton of (I could use maybe one of every five discs because the other four had some ridiculous flaws in the surface.) I came across some information about TY and decided to do some research myself, and this is how I came across this site (and cd-rlabs.com). I've pretty much vowed to just buy unbranded TY and be done with it. Still, I'm learning more about CD-Rs than I ever really wanted to know. It seems the majority here are PC users, but I will soon be kitting out an old G3 for my primary audio computer and would be interested in knowing if there are any Mac users here, as I'm sure I'll have some questions about software and burners for that machine. happy computing, william
