Installed DVDRW - Now my cdrw is missing!

I just unplugged the old drive and plugged this one in. I turned on the computer, and Winxp recognized it, no issue. However, I have a CDRW on the same IDE channel as this one. |
| Hello everyone, I just installed my new LG 4167 DVDRW burner. No problem with that. I just unplugged the old drive and plugged this one in. I turned on the computer, and Winxp recognized it, no issue. However, I have a CDRW on the same IDE channel as this one. The LG DVDRW is set as the Master, and the CDRW is set as a Slave. It was that way before with the old drive. Winxp does not show the CDRW. This is the original drive that came with the computer. I did not unplug any cables. When I check the Bios, it shows it is there. But when Winxp boots, no CDRW drive. Just the DVDRW. I deleted both IDE channels in System in Control Panel, and when I rebooted, everything re-installed except the CDRW. I don't know what is going on here. The CDRW tray will open and close, but it doesn't read anything. My IDE setup is: Channel 1: Booting Hard Drive (Master), Data Hard Drive (Slave) Channel 2: LG DVDRW (Master), CDRW (Slave) Should I swap the slaves in the setup? I don't know what is wrong. Does the LG need its own channel to itself? I've always had 2 optical drives, and want to continue. Thanks for any help |
