Increasing the tempo of an MP3.

Increasing the speed or tempo of an MP3 audio file using all the software I found from the Internet only mess the sound output.

To better understand, just imagine a sound being played from a Cassette tape or a Vinyl. When you increase the tempo/pitch, it outputs a sound like Chipmunks.

On a computer, e.g. Windows Media player, when you increase the tempo/pitch, it just skips frames. You will not hear it until you increase the speed. The sound will be like a choppy, skippy audio CD.

Now for my question, is there any software that I can download that will increase the speed of my MP3 output by doubling the the framerate/sec instead of removing some frames from it?

Thanks you so much!

Re: Increasing the tempo of an MP3.

You don't mention what software you've already tried so I'll suggest you take a look at Audacity, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. If this is one you already tried, you can check out Sox, http://sox.sourceforge.net/.

Re: Increasing the tempo of an MP3.

As mp3's are a COMPRESSED format what you are asking to do is like asking to fix typographical errors in a .zip document file.

ANY editing you need to do (other than to title or tags) will require you to "expand" the music into an uncompressed form (wav) edit it then recompress the music back to mp3.

what you need is a wav editor.

You need to expand your mp3's to wav edit them then recompress.

any other method is SFAIK fantasy.
