Well, you either burn them to a dual-layer blank... or... you use what's known as a "rip kit" or "patch kit" or "patch" to yank some stuff out of it. Sadly, I can't tell you where to find those things.

First rule about this message board: you don't say you're doing illegal stuff. If you are, then you don't say it out loud, or the topic gets closed...

I can't help you directly because I don't have an Xbox (I hate consoles), but I think you'll find tutorials in the site that's been linked. There are also plenty of console-dedicated forums where they might be able to help you, just be careful about stating your intentions.

Go to Xbox Scene (as linked a few posts back) go to thier Xbox Backup Forum - DVD/CD Burning / ISO extraction & creation / Hard Drive Backups section and look for the games your trying to backup.

*sigh*

So you're running out of time on your rented XBox games. We'd love to help you but seriously... you need to ask at an XBox forum. None of us are up for writing you a how-to on ripkits.

On a side note (and since this thread is no longer useful): why do places like Blockbuster rent Playstation and Xbox games but not PC games? They can all be copied, and for PS ones you don't even need to worry about ethernet connections and whatnot.

Maybe because it is quite easy to find no cd cracks for PC games and so the manufacturers won't allow licensing for rental of PC games. Whereas to play copied console games you have to do some physial modification of the console and I think they may not think the average user will want to do that.

No, it's mostly because there's no market for it. Several shops popped up a few years back to rent out PC games... but let's face it - your average user's machine is too nice to run games from 2 years ago, but not nice enough to run games that just came out. So what're they gonna do, just rent out last year's games?

Um - yes?
I don't know about you, but if I could rent last year's games instead of buying them for still too much I definitely would.
I think the service would be worth it.

I guess. But you can buy last year's games for $10.

And bear in mind that games aren't "put it in and it goes" on the PC. There's installation, patches, etc.

It'd be a support nightmare, with high levels of customer dissatisfaction.

Most of the best pc games are heavily used online which generally means you need an official copy.
RTS games are known for this you can have much more fun playing online against real people than you ever could against an AI.
I for one dont mind paying for a game that i know im going to play online a lot.
