Hi guys,

I need help getting Nero 7 to burn data DVD to an Optiarc 5540A with firmware verion 103C

This was a new burner that was replaced by Dell about a week ago, but it keeps giving me athe following type of message
4:36:51 PM #23 CDR -1046 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1799
Illegal disc
E: Optiarc DVD+-RW AD-5540A

I suspect that it needs a firmware upgrade, so I following the tips and tried to download it from the "cdfreak website", but the Windows GUI version is corrupt (as reported by Winrar) and the DOS version keeps saying that it could not find any Optiarc drive !!!

Please help urgently

Thanks very much for your tips, but when I tried to unzip the NEC flas tool, I got the following message
"nec_flashwingui.zip:Either Multipart or corrupt archive

Please tell me where else I can reliably download the flash tool

I have been to cdfreaky's website to download the DOS tool as well, but when I run it, it says that it does not detect myOptiarc drive

Please help
