I have burned home movies from mini-dvds on my computer and then burned them on DVD-R discs. I formatted the dvd's and then after copying I made them compatible. I tried to play them on a newer dvd player and it said I had a wrong disc. I then tried to play it on a laptop and it came back that it was not a recognizable disc. What can I do to get the dvd to play on a dvd player or another computer?

Did you finalize or close the dvd? That may be why it's not playing in the laptop. The dvd player may be incompatible with dvd-r discs.

    Welcome to the forum

In my opinion the problems can be two:

    1) you did a wrong conversion, so the final result is incompatible with standalone players.

    2) you burned on a low quality disc, so the burning produced a coaster.

Can you give more details? How did you convert these movies? What discs are you using? What burner? What firmware? At what speed did you burn the disc?

To retrieve informations on discs and burner/firmware you can use cd-dvd speed

I finalized the mini dvds on the camcorder. I placed the mini's in the computer and dragged the movie_TS file to the formatted dvd. It burned the movie_ts file to the dvd-r. I did this same procedure for two other mini's. I then made the dvd-r compatible. It would play on the computer that I did the burning on but wouldn't play on anything else. That is what I did.

I don't know what speed I burned it at. I don't know what firmware I used. I used windows media player to view the movies. What can I do to fix this problem? Thank you for the help.

Sorry, I'm not able to answer for the video part, but you can retrieve informations on the burner/firmware/media using vd-dvd speed. It's a free tool that give many useful informations.

What are you using to burn the dvds? How many movies did you try to put on one dvd? Look at these guides http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/ for some advice on how to burn dvds. The simplest way for you would be; download Dvd Decrypter, copy the mini-dvd to your HD in .iso mode and then burn the dvd using Dvd Decrypter.

Maybe it's better to use imgburn to burn the ISO: it's more updated than decrypter

I agree Imgburn is a better burner but it doesn't rip to your HD. It sounds like he's using the built-in Windows burning feature and Decrypter is much better than that.
