Newbie Forum Discuss, Dvd playing vcds at Starters forum; I have a Sony dvd player and it says it can play vcds. I used dvd2svcd to create mpeg1 files for a vcd and burned them with nero and easyvcd, but it doesn't recognize the disk. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Do you think it is the dvd

First, if you have one , try an original (s)vcd to check if it actually can play (s)vcd's. Perhaps it needs a menu setting ?

Some issues i had with DVD2SVCD is that when i used VCDxBuild and/or used a MPEG2 instead of a MPEGAV directory , my Philips dvd player also failed to recognize them. Now i only use VCDImager.

Try some of the options on a CD-RW , saves coasters

If Windows Vista is the answer, how stupid must have been the question?

well the mpeg1 files work perfectly when I play them on my computer, so shouldn't they burn right on a vcd?
or is there a certain way the mpeg files have to be before burning them?
p.s. I don't have any commercial vcds

You have mpeg files only ?

Then use Nero to make a SVCD compliant CD-R(W) of them.
