Newbie Forum Discuss, dvd labels at Starters forum; I have copied lots of dvds using one click dvd copy with no problems. Recently some of them have started freezing. I have an LG DVD recorder, only 6 months old so I don't think it's that. Recently I have added labels to them all (Avery J8676-25) could it be

Any ideas greatfully received as my 3year old is getting very annoyed with them.

Welcome to the forum

If you are referring to sticky labels, they are well know to cause reading problems because can unbalance the disc and also warp it.

There is a thread dedicated to this issue but the general consensus is that sticky labels should be avoided.

This issue is further worstened if you are using low quality discs like Princo

The only way to recover your discs is ripping them and burn again on better media without stycky labels.

You can use instead printable discs

I agree with Geno. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. The only solution was re-burn without labels.

Ah, the CDF shop doesn't cater for England, unfortunately.

Most of us from the UK shop at SVP. Highly recommended

And to print on printable DVDs, you'll need a printer that prints to disc. Epson and Canon both make ones that do it.

You're welcome - I might consider one in the near future too, but for now I can use my Sharpie (CD pen), or my Lightscribe drive.

Just bought an all-in-one printer/scanner etc, but alas, no disc printing!

I've just come across clear glossy labels which apparently create the impression of printing directly on the disc, i'm assuming these would be lighter than a paper label, would these be any good?

To guaranty that you will not risk to shorten your disc's life it is better not to use labels, so it seems we can conclude from all the opinions that are around.

I believe part of the issue here is that sticky labels have a tendancy to trap moisture under them, causing premature aging/breakdowm of the disc.
I personally use the epson r220, print directly on the disc; gives professional looking results, I am happy!
