Copy a computer file to DVD

I have some files that I can play on Windows Media player. Does anyone know how I can copy these to a DVD so that I can play them on my DVD player at home?

Thanks

Rich

It will also depend on your dvd player.
Newer units can play all sorts of disc types and diff file types, while others may only be able to play videos in a dvd compliant format.

Re: Copy a computer file to DVD

OK, I am new to this so bear with me. The CD plays wuth the windows DVD player. The CD has two directories:

VIDEO_TS FOLER has six files:

VIDEO_TS this is an IFO file

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VTS_01_0 this is an IFO file

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_1.VOB

VTS_01_2.VOB

OPEN DVD folder has two files:

Opendvd.pvm

VTS_01_1_VOB.SES

The names and extentions fo the files mean nothing to me so I warn you I am a complete novice!

Thanks Rich

Looks like a Dvd movie, so just open the video_ts folder for example in nero, select
all files per drag&drop to the video_ts folder, you'll see it on the left side, not the audio folder, then just burn it!

Re: Copy a computer file to DVD

What you mean with your dvd drive is a plus?
Important for you is what format you'll choose, +R or -R.
Most of older standalone players, one of the first on the market, would only read -R's,
for example. But you can also take +R's and changin booktype to Dvd-Rom, if your
burner supports this feature, to get higher compatibility, cause pressed Dvd movies are
standard Dvd-Roms!

Re: Copy a computer file to DVD

OK. My disk drive say "disk + DVD ROM".

I try to copy the files from the hard drive to the DVD disk (DVD-RW) but the computer just makes temporary files, and then asks me if I want to copy them to a CD. If I select “Yes” doesn’t seem to just want to put them on the disk. I am using the normal “My Computer” program to move the files.

Thanks

Re: Copy a computer file to DVD

Just moving over files with Windows' CD/DVD writing wizard won't produce a working result. Use a real program like Nero, put it in DVD-VIDEO mode, then drop on the VIDEO_TS folder.
